I personally have never seen a cruiser with a black top that i thought looked good.... and I also hate black bezels.... leave it white like it's supposed to be, you won't regret it.
Y'all wanna know something funny? Before I bought my 40, I saw this exact picture online... it made me want one. Now, every time I see a Heep, it makes me think of that picture and Laugh. ha ha.
To tell you the truth, I like some of the black tops. The red one in the link above I think looks pretty good... just my .02
I debated it for quiet a while, but ended up going black. I figured it would be hotter, which worked fine in the winter (not that we have much of a winter in SoCal) and in the summer ... I take the top off and I don't worry about the paint getting messed up on the roof every time I move it in the garage. I still want to get some vented back windows from SOR as it does get toasty some days. Sometimes I take the rear window out which helps the airflow.
I can't say I like it, but my wife does. I don't need to go into much explanation about that. I bought it with the black top and bezel. It's real nice in the winter here in Colorado, I have been running a bikini top this summer. If anything, I am gonna paint it an original color and probably think about a white top.....someday.
i painted my top black and it didnt' stay 'nice' looking for very long. I mainly did it to warm things up in the winter time, as i take the hardtop off in the summer, but the snow and ice made it all look like ass.
I'm not a fan of the white top, but i think its far more practical than black. It depends if you're going for a classic or brutal kind of look.
I'm going to repaint the top to match the paint.
Black can look great, it is up to you. My top was pretty beat up, I ended up shooting it with durabak gray. Cruiser is white, I like it quite a bit, though that is only my opinion. My son shot his black with a Sahara tan cruiser and I also thought it looked great.
