Hello BJ70 folks. We have a 1985 BJ70 with a wiper motor that needs replacing. Found some good pointers on the forum; and wanted to add some other thoughts that may help others in similar situations. To remove the motor, we unbolted the 4 motor bolts revealing the wiper assembly tucked in behind. Normally, we would move the wiper arms to push the mechanism closer/through the motor hole so you can undo the single nut. Unfortunately, our wiper assembly was seized at the wiper blades and wouldn't allow for much room. This required taking off the vent trim (2 phillips screws), the wiper arms (12mm nuts), the plastic leaf screen, and the 6 bolts (3 X 10mm) for each wiper mount. The mechanism could then be slid back and forth, giving access to the motor bolt and , then, pulled out through the air vent. To free up the seized wiper mounts, you need to expose the cir-clip, and carefully heat and use WD40 on the fitting (it has a brass fitting to heat carefully). It will then wiggle off. Hope this helps.

Another quick note. The testing instructions in the Toyota 1984 Manual suggest testing the motor for low speeds with +ve at terminal 2 and high speed at terminal 1. Neither worked for the set up we have. Testing at Terminal 4 worked fine. Installed motor and everything works as it should (intermittent, low, high). Can't explain the difference between the manual for the BJ70 and the actual BJ70 even though our wiring looked Canadian original. Just thought folks may want to be aware.
