Hey Guys,
I've been reading the forum for a few years since i bought a BJ70.
This forum has been really useful!

I've just moved to Townsville, Australia and am dreading the coming summer without AC.

I know there is a fair bit in the forum regarding AC for BJ70's however it seems a few years old now.

Is there anyone is Australia... or anywhere in the world for that matter that could point me in the right direction to find the various parts i need to retrofit AC into my awesome car.

I've included a few old photos of my BJ70 below for interest sake - pretty stock as you can see, but i picked it up with 120,000k's on it in 2009.

Thanks heaps guys,

X2... would love to know where to find a good retrofit AC system for my BJ70.

i have a complete RHD AC system sitting here...

you would think those 2 countries would have a few companies that sell the units. what about the breakers?

Yeh i've called quite a few wreckers but no one can help... the problem is that aren't that many BJ70s around and unless they're imported they don't come with AC.

What are the chances of putting your AC system in a box and shipping it over?

huge money to ship.
the basic kit is the same for all the 70 body styles, the compressor mount and tensioner are different for the engines.
the kit that came with the troopie was an aftermarket kit. i will pull up the name of the kit today and post it up. maybe you can contact them for the mount and tensioner and get the rest for a newer model 70 in the breakers??

When I was fitting ac to my old fj75, I found the condensers for the swb were taller than the typical hzj 75

strange, factory or aftermarket condenser?
they share the same rad mount, firewall, etc ...

Unless there is a dedicated aftermarket 70 series ac kit ? It would have been factory , as all the ac lines etc were bent and mounted same as oem 70 ac.
The condenser height at the top ( when mounted in the 70) was the same as normal but it hung lower than the one on the 75 I got other parts off.

The pump can come of any bj, just have to find out what condenser has the pipe joins on same sides.
Your have 6 model types to choose from .

If you find a second hand one and you pull it apart be VERY careful when undoing the aluminum threads as the strip very easy , specially being old .

The under dash part is the easy bit , just pull out the pipe duct next to the fan and slot any 7x series ac box in there and that will get you pipes to through to the fire was .
My fj didn't have any ac wiring in the oem loom , so your bj prob doesn't either , so you will have to wire a new compressor ON switch

What about a complete brand new aftermarket kit from a hotrod shop , and just fab your own compressor mount.
