Im very sorry to hear of your loss. Its never easy to take i know im dreading the day for myself.

My dad is 70 and i dont spend nearly enough time with him. Puts it in perspective.

Keep pushing on your build im sure its what your dad would have wanted.

Back bumper completed today, new lights, crossmember bumper, rear spring mounts and bumperettes.

Varty yo, don't delay that's all I can say. You can buy everything but time. I cancelled all my extra work last year and consequently lost a very lucrative tug boat contract but I don't give a damn. I spent every day with him until he passed and money can't buy that. I want this rig done for the Parksville Father's Day show and shine, even if she will be a convertible without her hardtop I want to drive it. I can finish the hard top later in case I don't get it done in time.

4 seat mounts fabbed up. Tomorrow I'll work on locating the seats and drilling the mounting holes. If I have time I'll start on pre drilling the hard top sides...right after I make a batch of moose sausage :)

Sorry to hear of your loss ! Sounds like you've made some wise choices !
If you need any measurements just pm me ! I have an 83 in my garage, my baby I bought back in 92. Lots of good memories with it and friends like my buds in Nanoose Bay and their 42.
Cheers and don't push to hard just enough to keep the work going !

she's a beauty, I really like the color too. An '83 BJ42 is a very rare cruiser indeed, hang on to it because I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the value of your cruiser in the coming years.

Thank you Alberta Mac, I will try to plug along at a steady pace. I need to finish this project in a timely fashion because I want to start using it and I want it off the books so to speak. Nanoose is only about 10 minutes from my house. I'll keep and eye out for another 42 on the road.

Ok seat mounts are drilled and in position, now I need to mount the seat belts, can someone send me a picture on where the seat belt anchors to the floor? Not the release but the belt itself. Much appreciated

the seat belt end hanging down in the pic bolts to the triangulated horizontal metal below the fuel enclosure. You will need a piece of 3/16 flat bar with a hole in it. Weld a nut to that flat plate and that gets welded to the back side of the triangulated plate. Go with stainless if you can. 316 filler rod or electrode. I will see about getting a pic if someone else has not this week.

I saw one pic on the internet that showed the belt being fastened to that area. I can weld a doubler there no problem. If you have a pic that would be great Alberta Mac

Ok thanks guys, I'm at the stage where I am staring at something and wondering where the hell it goes. I took tons of pics but it's been 3 years so I'm a doing an it if head scratching....and I'm pretty sure I'm missing some parts somewhere but I'll run across them sooner or later.
I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask for the odd favor from you guys so thank you in advance. Tomorrow I'm taking my mom on a road trip to drop off my seats, she's a trooper at 78 years old but she's lonely now. 56 years of marraige to a great man is not something one can forget easily, time will make it easier eventually.
