So I got a shop to install my shocks and ever since I’ve had a bad clank in the back. I thought it was the heavy springs at first but now I’ve realized the top of the shock plates are moving all around. Both of these plates around the bushing are lose. There is another plate and bushing on top of the frame.

How is this actually suppose to look? Is the bottom bushing not supposed to be there? How does the top of the shock boot get held up?

Well guys. Now that I finally got the time to get them out of the truck... Turns out the sleeve was not the issue.

I actually bought the sleeve from china, but it was installed... What actually happened was the shop put the original OEM washers in, instead of the new Bilstein washers.... so you can see how loose it is.
I am trying to get an entire new bushing kit through 4 wheel drive parts, but they order from bilstien anyways. So hoping it wont take forever, any suggestions would be great.

I have heavy duty springs installed, but I kind of want to switch to medium or even stock weight. Curious on thoughts; I have drawers, roof rack, skid plates, winch with hidden winch mounts. No steel bumpers planned. I want the OEM ride quality back, which once I actually get damping will help... but still looking at spring options.

yeah... my guess originally was the old shop didn't install the sleeve, but the shop didnt install the new washers correctly... they put the oem ones in.
I'm not the one to ask for money back, so I haven't even talked to the old shop, he was a friend of a friend and normally doesn't work on trucks, only JDM cars.

Already talked to the same guy at Bilstein, and they are willing to sell me two kits directly. He said typically they don't do that. So go bilstein!

Only thing that sucks is that I didn't take the shock off the truck first to check... would have saved a lot of time. That is all on me lol.

Purchased the kit and planning to go 4th perch with standard blistein springs in the back. I have a 3inch clearance with the garage door to really trying to keep my specs to +2.5 max. Planning to replace the front control arms and away bar links and bushing during the job as well.

Currently still in my original shocks and springs at 179k miles. Hoping this will make the rig less “wallowy” and more controlled without making things too harsh.

I ended up getting OEM UCAs since so many people in the thread were able to get alignment with the 4th perch. Was thinking of Ironmans/Dobinson/SPC but OEM is always best especially for an OEM+ build. This is how she sits right now.

Perfect as it is! The ride will definitely be stiffer.

I can't believe I've gone this long without giving this setup a serious look.

I think I'm sold.

Plan to go with the 5th clip
OME 2721 rear springs
SPC UCA's..
Dr KDSS on lower bolt

Now to find the bilstein's in stock somewhere.....

Good reminder here @amitbh234

I forgot. The Dr KDSS bracket is also an important part of this

Can anyone confirm they’ve been able to get their rigs aligned with the bilsteins on 4th circlip with OEM UCAs?
I was able to get mine aligned on the 4th clip but caster was lower and out of spec. Drove it this way for several months with no adverse tire wear, but didn't like the very light on center/wandery feeling at highway speeds on long road trips. Got aftermarket UCAs for more caster and she tracks much better. Some are fine with it however.

Also, larger tires require less caster. If I was on 35s back then like I am now maybe I would have been fine haha. Good excuse to get big meats.

Yeah…. 3rd clip seems to be the safest that will get it closest to spec within tolerance and OEM UCAS

What does the Dr KDSS bracket do? Fixed the rear alignment? Seems like you added the shorty bracket in your build.

Yes, that’s exactly what it does.

The shorty works perfect for us

Posting here so others have it too. @Boston Mangler could you share the link or part number for the shorty Dr Kdss bracket? I can’t seem to find it online on their website. They either got rid of it or I’m just not looking at the right place.
