Recently started looking at suspension options for the 200. Currently I have:
OME2722 springs in rear
OME60029 rear shocks (standard nitrocharger)
OME702 front springs
OME90005 front shocks (standard nitrocharger)
275/70r18 Load E LT tires at 38-40psi
+ARB bumper (no winch), drawers in rear.

Truck sitting at: FR: 22", FL: 22", RR: 22.25", RL: 22" (center of hub to fender)

Whole system about 13 years old, with the exception of front shocks that were replaced 2 years ago since they were leaking. Lately I've been thinking of changing them out to the Bilstein 6112/5160's lowered to the 1st perch to get more rake and improve handling and retain current OME 2722 rear springs with 5160 shocks in the rear (I read some things on the thread mentioning the Bilstein springs are pretty stiff). I'd like to not raise the rear anymore than what it is now. I've previously had 5100's on some other Toyota truck's and i've always thought those were best quality for the $. I've had OME stuff in older LC's, and I've generally thought that their springs are stiffer than advertised, their shocks are good, but their corrosion resistance and bushing's wear out fast (One of the rear shock eyelets is slowly backing out of the bushing currently haha)

I'm having my first kid here in the near future, and I think that the truck rides a bit rough poorly maintained roads at highway speeds, which I imagine might not be great for a newborn.

Wanted to see if anybody here has had experience with an OME setup and can compare it to a 6112/5160 at 1st perch setting. I've also been looking at the MT64's from OME but can't find any reviews on them on 200's (they're also more expensive).

Some photos of my current setup:

ome and dobinsons both were crap when i rode in other 200

bilstein + sl tires = smooth as buttah for my mall crawlerr

Not sure how mixing OME and Bilstein shocks would work together.

OME = Linear
Bilstein = Digressive

They’d likely be fighting each other and make things worse.

Whatever ya end up deciding, I’d keep the 4 shocks the same brand/valving style

Got a few 1000 miles on mine now so feel feedback is now valid.

2010 LC
3rd clip front
Regular Bilstein Springs rear
Basically unloaded

The digestive piston design is definitely noticeable on the less than stellar side streets here in SoCal, and a little jarring, but not horrible

On nicer, smoother streets and mountain roads it’s amazing. Firmer than stock for sure but in a good way, absolutely love it for these conditions. But it’s my daily and often on less than stellar streets. So I’m torn.

I drove the same crappy streets bone stock, with 215k of clapped out bushings, and it rode nicer and softer, but also much looser. Hard to explain

Haven’t done much off road testing yet, but feel for the digressive design will be noticeable at lower speeds.

I got this system new, for free, in a trade for a Suzuki Samurai “project” I was sick of looking at so I’m happy enough.

Eventually, I’ll likely revalve the fronts, or replace them though.

But I’m a picky primadonna bitch about ride quality all around though, so take that for what it’s worth

My .04 (inflation)

Thoughts on Dobinson IMS? Better route then 6112/5160?

I have no first hand experience with any Dobinsons products. So I can’t compare or give an opinion,

I’m on E rated tires (for now) because of my 18” wheels.

But I had my stock C rated tires on after I installed the Bilsteins and the difference was 100% noticeable. Rode much nicer on the Cs

I’ve played with various PSI on the Es to smooth it out a bit, but showed signs of odd wear pretty quick, so I put them back to 40psi.

I’m not totally happy with my current setup, so something is definitely going to change eventually, but it’s good enough for now while I handle other priorities

you could get the new falkens. 285/70 C rated. Heavy as hell but i like them and i think it rides nice with the Bilsteins.

i said screw it and bought the 6112/5160. already have SL rated falkens 285/65/18.

Ordered on perch 3. Is it fine going with the stock springs in the rear? Ive got a 2021 HE w/3rd row so it did not come ass end high like the other HE's.

Just saw this on FB: Bilstein is updating the rear 5100 series 46 mm shocks to 6100 series 2.6” bodies with a 60mm pistons. This is for 22’ and up sequoia/tundra but I will send my email asking for when if at all they’ll update offerings for the Lc200.

Please do keep us posted. This would be absolutely perfect for AHC deleted rigs to avoid rubbing on the swaybar. I'd buy in a heartbeat!

I have an email into Bilstein but getting info from them is like pulling teeth even though they’re 15 mins away. I also volunteered my truck for fitment of 6100 rears and 8100 series coilovers.
I did talk to the dudes over at Shock Surplus who have been extremely helpful in the past and they were doubtful that the LC200 would see a standalone update to the 6100 rears but rather if these shocks sell well for tundra/sequoia they will probably phase out 5160s across the board and replace them all.

Makes sense. The 200 series is much smaller market for them I’m sure. Should be a nice upgrade from the 5160s though.

Have you checked their specs/dimensions?

Bilstein is REALLY good about publishing every single dimension of every single shock

Even if not listed specifically, there may quite possibly be a direct bolt on. If the weight of said vehicle is designed for is close, valving might work fine too.

I looked into 8112s for mine, and the Tundra variant (front) is about 3/4 too long, but has the same top hat, and bottom mounting point.

I started going down the rabbit hole, of seeing if Accutune could just change the bottom mounting billet piece (most are all interchangeable) to a shorter one, like i did with my ADS on the ram, but i didnt put all that much effort into the research on this, as its low priority

Just swap the rest of the Tundra suspension parts on, then you can easily use the Tundra 8112s. ;)

I'd love to have a full set of their 8100's front and rear over anything else on the market... please make this happen

Need a 1-2” lift in the rear. Recommendations for daily driving? My LC has 3rd row.

I’ve done some research and it looks like maybe

Bilstein non hd
OME 2721

I have the 2721 in the rear. For me it's really nice loaded, a little stiff unloaded (I know stiff is very subjective).

Depending on what perch you are up front, how much rake you want, and your loading you could also consider 2720. Same spring rate as the 2721 but a little shorter.

Will it be a bad Idea to mix the new bilsteins (rear) with existing Toughdog(front)? My rear TDs are almost done after 5 years of use.
