Very cool Georg. If I had a LC transfer case, I'd buy one. Much better to have this upgrade than to worry about breaking on the trail.

For all of the cheapskates......Quality costs $$$$

those two things can still happen with the billet cone......the nose cone save has held up for me for over a year now too

All the times I had broken bolts or pulled threads I also had broken ears. I don't think the bolt problems are common if all of them are intact. I think the billet one looks like it would do a good job of spreading the load evenly. The strength of the billet should help with side loading too.

Yea I have your nose cone saver now and I think maybe a case saver too (not sure need to look) but would be interested in the new nose cause I worry about the case when in stupid low and it bound up hard.

I couldn't generate enough interest to make this happen.............

However......

Somebody else is working on them as we speak. If and when that happens he will be posting on here.

Georg

Cool would like to see something out to better ease my worries of a busted case in a more than likely not so convenient place.

you have both ... and I need to reorder some for the new project

very interested, will be paying close attention

My guy came back with a huge price. 1st batch of 20 a min of $650, subsequent batches just under $600. If y'all want 'em for that price, I'll get them rolling.

He is a pro and has some serious machinery. They would be an exact copy of the Warden's pieces.

Hi All:

That doesn't seem too expensive to me!

$650 divided by 20 equals $32.50 per unit. So, even sold at $50 each that is a reasonable cost for an upgrade part!

Regards,

Alan

pretty sure he meant $650 each........

lol, yep...

Hi All:

If it is $650 per billet nose cone those puppies better be gold plated!!

i think $300-350 is a realistic price. you'd have to start with a healthy chunk of T^-6061 or likewise aluminum which would probably cost $80-100. that in turn would then have to go thru a multi-step machining process which could easily take 2-3 hours per unit. CNC mills and lathes are'nt cheap........

Why does this need to be aluminum?

Why couldnt it be made of CHEAP mild steel?

The main body could be made of round steel stock or thick enough wall tubing and then a flange machined out of thick plate and welded to it.

Then it can all be machined a final time after welding/heat is done.

Am I overlooking something obvious or is this feasible?

How much time and labor do you want to spend on it?

:meh:

The beauty of the Warden component is that it is one piece, just like the original.

It would need to be machined after welding. Steel is harder to machine as well.
