Got a lot of lateral play in the front tailshaft. Enough that it clunks badly going over bumps on the road and tomorrow or the next day I'm actually going to remove it and have it looked at. It's a std one.

I've seen references to getting a double-cardan front shaft but honestly is that of any value with a part-time 4wd 80 like mine? No! More unsprung weight and much more expensive IMHO.

So I might replace the front shaft as there's IMHO too much lateral play in the slip-joint.

Are double-cardan's a big thing in the USA and Canada?

It seems there are two p/n's for the front shaft going on toyodiy - 37140-60250 and 37140-60350 - with conflicting information about them being interchangable. They're not cheap as new genuine but probably top quality.
