Yes John, facts related to safety, performance, durability, you know, all the things that make up "value"...

...FACTS ARE that the KO is the number ONE selling AT truck tire for years running. There IS a reason for this especially because they come at a HIGHER cost than others...
Sales history isn't relevant to value, performance, safety, durability, etc. Even you should know that. BFG's are the best selling because they've been around forever (with essentially the same tread pattern), and they market like crazy. Brand loyalty (read different than fact-based opinions) is high, just like Apple products. Doesn't mean they're the best. Up until recently GM sold more cars than Toyota. FACT. Does that make them the "best"? Don't be absurd here. You haven't even owned a different tire. In fact, the last major safety issue with tires was with what brand? A "value" brand, or a major manufacturer that showed up in the list of mfg's you quoted?

Maybe all the BUYERS and MANUFACTURERS are just STUPID for buying the KO's...and have been stupid for many years in a row. I doubt it.
You said it, not me. Maybe they are that STUPID. I wouldn''t doubt it...:lol::lol: :deadhorse:

(ref GM similarity above)

Don't resist. Personal attacks make folks look like asses. :D

all of us combined could never out do you on that one!!! Everyone has got their niche though.

Wow, all this over AT tires, seriously? Judging by the responses I though we were talking about religion there for a second.... :D

Religion or "is the 80 better than the 100" and PLEASE do not respond to that last statement. please. . .

I just ordered my Goodyear Duratracs from Discount tire yesterday and will have them on this weekend. After doing tons of research on tires... I chose those over MTR's because I was not willing to sacrifice on-highway snow and ice performance but still wanted an aggressive off-road tread... and they look great too. Can't wait to try them out! As a side note... if you are not looking for a really aggressive tire the stock Michelins are one of the best rated tires for packed snow and ice... they just suck when you get into deep snow and mud... all depends on what your doing with them.

That's an AT? They look like MT.

They are generally considered a hybrid due to the tread design, but are classified as a snowflake-rated all terrain.

They are pretty wicked in snow and mud. Not that I'm biased or anything... ;)

Edit: Actually I lied. They aren't an all terrain tire, they are a "commercial traction" tire, whatever the eff that means.

Why is there so much hostility towards this guy Shotts?

OMFG YOU GOT THOSE DURATRACS. WHAT KIND OF SICK HUMAN ARE YOU?!?!?! DIDNT YOU HEAR SHOTTSY BOY SAY THEY ARE A LESSER TIRE THAN THE ULTIMATE BFG ALL TERRAIN THAT HAS BEEN ON THE MARKET SINCE THE MODEL T FORD AND NEVER CHANGE THE TREAD PATTERN BECAUSE SHOTTS GIVES THEM THE BIG THUMBS UP

Guys, seriously. If one puts Nitto's or BFG's. What is the difference? Aren't we all in this hobby together? This is worse than Pirate4x4 sometimes. I mean really.

Answer the OP's question, leave YOUR opinion and be said and done, he's not rock crawling in the Alps. He lives in GA..... Who cares who sells more tires....the F-150 is the best selling truck in America ( I think... Whatever you get the damn point). Does that mean I should buy it? He'll no, I think it's a horrible looking truck and garbage... Do I think about BFG the same way? No, if I want a AT I go with a BFG AT. If I want a very quiet AT I go with a Nitto. If want one in the middle with good snow behavior I got with a Duratrac.

Yeah...most aggressive AT I could find. I was initially looking for a MT but I live in Flagstaff and wanted something that would be good on icy roads too. Best compromise I could find for my application.

I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed.

I've had more issues with BFG tires than I can count.

I think Mr.Harris is on his 4th set of AT's in 25K. Something stupid like that.

No one gives a rats butt about your opinion you KM2 owner.

Outside of "possible" treadlife being lower, what solid evidence do you have that they are "middle of the row" compared to Duratrac, or any other brand for that matter? I'm just curious because, in my opinion, anyone who says that simply has not tried them. If you're referring to the categories showcased by the tire manufacturers, those are really hard to use seeing as most of them just refer to the manufacturers in general, not specific tires. The ones that do have that info leave much to be desired as not many real AT tires actually get tested, there are many left out.

I encourage everyone to post their individual thoughts about the tires they personally own, but DON'T automatically assume that because you like them, they are the standard at which other tires are measured. I can only comment on my own experience in this regard, having previously had 3 vehicles with the BFG's, and also Yoko Geolanders.

There is nothing (in our snowy, icy, and generally wet pacific coast weather we get there) that the BFG's or Geolanders have done that my current tires weren't at least 50% better in; outside of possible treadwear for the BFG's, and quietness for the Yokos.

Seriously, just ask anyone who's ever owned them.

If anyone makes comments on certain tires that they haven't had personal experience with, why listen to them. They could be misleading. Especially on these type of topics where there's a lot of dick measuring that happens...

Anyway, the BFG's are hands down a better tire than the Yoko's I replaced too; just not as good as what I ended up with.

My bro has a 2000 LX with new BFG KO's, and I intend on shooting some video once we get some snow to showcase the difference in these two tires. I can't wait!

That being said, If you don't get a lot of wet weather, or snow driving, and do a lot of highway miles, they may not be the best tire for you.

FWIW, I LOVE MY BFGs, HAVE THE ATs, BUYING THE MTs FOR THE 16s.

HOW ABOUT NOT TYPING IN ALL CAPS? IT DOESN'T REALLY EMPHASIZE THE POINT YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE.
