OK, I just called Discount Tire so that I can order up 5 BFG's Mud terrain or maybe All Terrains) 33x10.50x15 but the sales rep said that he thought that these tires are quote" way too narrow", was he just a moron or should I be looking at some wider tires. My rig will soon have a 3" OME heavy/heavy on it.

That's a pretty generic question. There are guys on here running 33's in everything from a 9.5 to a 12.5. It depends on use, what wheels you are running, and what you prefer as far as look goes. 10.5's will be fine if that is what you want.

I have just order five of the bfg mud terrian and I am waiting for my 3" OME. There are alot of guys on mud with that size they look great. Also with the stock rims you don't want the tires much wider than 10.50 but you can.

there are a lot of pics in the "60 series registry" with many different sizes and width to look at. Mine are 33x9.5 and think they look fine.

I don't think it is too narrow for anything other than deep churned sand, snow, or mud that is deeper than your ground clearance.(i.e. going to catch on your axles)

where will you be driving it?

you will have great traction, but not much flotation(tire width is a balance of traction vs. flotation... ideally you would have enough of both to get you through most anything, depending on tire pressure.

fyi: that is the exact tire i run on my 83 fj60... i say go for it. best tires I've ever had.

2" Backspace - US Wheel "D" window type.

throw some thow some D's on that Bi***.......

ok my gheto side came out sorry yall....

yea sometimes i wish i had some 2" backspace instead of 2.5" but i figure i can run a spacer and have 1.5" or 2" if i wanted so oh well.

In my opinion and terrain here, you have plenty of traction with 12,5 wide on hard surfaces, but they are awfully skinny for soft swamp. Cut's through really easy. I'd like 33x15,5 Swamper TSL SX.

Some pics of my 33x12,5 TSL on 15x10, also have 33x12,5 BfG All Terrain for daily driving.

maybe 36's as i can fit them under the truck now...

As tires go, it really depends on what you like the looks, use and handling.

Ipersonally do not like "wagon wheels" 33x9.5 or 33x10.5s for everyday drivers. They are good in packed snow and dirt but suck on sand and corners (going around corners you feel like you have a butt full of jello (alot of sidewall and not much meat = alot of cornering flex) - installed rear sway bar but did not help). While wider 33x12.5s and so will effect your mileage - more surface area on the ground - and tend to float (hydroplane) in really wet areas. But in turn result in a wider stance and more meat on the sand and snow.
I sold my 33x10.5 in November and went to 33x12.5s...( I ) would not go back

But thats me..........................

I recently did the OME 2.5 and went to 33 x 10.5 BFG AT on stock rims. only regret is I should have gone with 33 x 10.5 BFG MT. the ATs are nice but first couple times on the trail I think the MTs would have come in handy.
