Hi..i have not long fitted a new set of BFG 285/75/16 AT KO Tires to my 2001 toyota landcruiser 50th anniversary 4.7ltr,the crusier is standard and not carrying any heavy loads and is only driving on normal public roads/highways..can any one please tell me the tire pressure i should be running them at,i have 31psi in them the now but was told this was not enough can any put me right..thanks.

When my truck was stock I ran those tires at ~35psi just to keep them from rolling over on themselves. They seemed to wear evenly as well.

While I have a different size (285/65R18), same brand, I usually run mine at 45 rear and 42 front. They are wearing great. I do have about 1000lbs on my truck over stock. I think Loud's 35psi is fairly close to perfect for a near stock vehicle. When mine was stock with the same tires, running at the door jam pressure (29?) felt and looked too low. I've never had any uneven wear.

Another data point here, I just had 285/75R16 Revo2s (Load Range E) installed at Costco, they aired up to 45 lbs front and back - I was concerned that it would give a harsh ride, but the ride is actually Much nicer now than on my former (~50% worn) BFG ATs of same size (ran those at about 35 lbs, they were Load Range D).

I asked them why the high pressure, and they told me that Load Range E tires should be run at least that high in order keep the the bead seated. I have been meaning to verify this information, but have not yet had the time...

^ most people at Costco/Sam's don't know anything. I was one of them. They get like an hour of training and everything else is word of mouth. There is absolutely zero truth it the statement that load range E tires have to be run at a higher pressure to keep them seated. Point in fact, I run mine at 15-18 off road and have never had one lose the bead. Take what they say with a grain of $8/HR salt. Correct tire pressure is directly related to vehicle weight.

thnx Jon, i figured as much. time for some low pressure testing on my new set ;)

but first i'm going to see if there is any fuel economy benefit to the higher pressure... as long as they are wearing evenly, the ride is very good now...

I got the same tires installed today (LT285/75R16D) and the guy put them at 29/32 psi. They feel like they are rolling in the corners and are too soft. The sidewalls state up to 65 psi.

I know this is one of the more popular tires and people have a lot of experience with them on this truck, but am I crazy in thinking the 32-35 psi range is too low for a D rated tire?

35-40 PSI will yeild even wear but a little different ride quality within those numbers. I ran my A/T's at 40PSI and wore great, until they fell apart and self destructed on the highway.

fell apat? what'd you do? I've put over 350k on different sets of BFG ATs over the years and never had a problem other than a nail in the tire. They've always lasted well over 60k for me.

I'm on my 3rd set in ~5,000 miles.

I had a defective set on my truck. 22K in they started to crumble and chunk. The last 5 miles on the highway before I pulled over I could hear the rubber chunks hitting the wheel wells going down the highway. BFG warranties them and that is why I got thee KM-2's.

I called BFG after getting my 285/75/16D's and for my stock 2000 LX they told me 45psi all four corners is recommend. And it rides much nicer than the 35 they were first put at. With 10,000+ miles on them they still look and ride like i just got them minus the hint of mud I can't seem to clean off.

his sidewalls keep shredding.

Bingo. I wheel my truck. Road Hazard is awesome.

Honestly, I am getting sick of it, I know some of the sidewall issues are having are due to careless driving but some of it is just random. I would love to see an AT redesign featuring some sidewall lugs. If i ever find a set of 16" wheels I'll be putting KM2s on them.
