She told me she got it in a divorce and didn't know the history, but her post was rather detailed about control arms and skid plates and other equipment for a woman who nothing about the truck. If you notice there are no interior shots. I finally got her to send some, although she said her camera wasnt that good. I noticed things missing and screw holes. Asked about them, said her husband removed them before she got it from him. They didn't take interior shots because they needed time to strip this truck to sell without the stuff they wanted. She told me it had a DVD player but the previous owner took it before they got it, but she forgot she had sent a picture that showed it barely in the corner. When I questioned about the DVD, all I got was silence. This truck obviously had serious issues and they have come up with this story to try and pawn this off on someone else. Stay away and I hope this comes around on them.

Run from this one. @JohnJB dug this up:

She was super flaky at first, then pulled it together. I thought her story was odd with all the details she had on equipment, but didn't know any history. Then she slipped, liars will always get caught with enough questions.

Most of this thread is whack. Half of the op's sentences are jumbled and make no sense. Then their is a pic of some poorly written notes on a computer screen about bad rust and water damage but no pics of said issues.
Sorry for being "whack", just trying to paraphrase two days of conversation with this lady about the cruiser. Next time I will have my transcriptions to type it out, so you can understand it. Just trying help people out, and some others Mudders offered info they found. Go buy the piece of junk if you pleases you.

Did you read your post? It's unreadable. What does "they didn't pay interior shoes" mean? Are u saying the owner has some stolen shoes inside?

And you've added what to this thread, other than being critical of grammar and sentence structure?
Jeesh.

Sorry for auto-correct on my phone. No I didn't proof read it. Obviously, others were able to decipher what I was I getting at. I'm not turning in my thesis here, so go try and grease someone else's thread. I'm just passing this along, not looking to get bashed for my thread. Which is real easy for you to do from a keyboard.

Don't get torqued just because I said I can't understand what you wrote. I'm not here to insult you at all. I screw up posts all the time with auto correct just like the rest of us. But I'll happily clear it up for people if they don't understand because of it as will most people when brought to their attention.

So far I see only very vague concerns about the cruiser. Their is a mention of water damage and rust. Where is the rust? Is it structural? It has water damage. Is it some water on the carpet like a clogged sunroof drain would cause or was it in a flood? All of this could be very basic fixes or catastrophic .

This isn't a PPI report that somebody paid a $350 for complete with photo documentation and recommended actions.

It's a Mud Buyer Beware thread on Mud with information discovered over the phone and other second hand sources.

OP talked with the seller and relayed their experience and impression. The screenshot appears to be something from a local Toyota dealer's service notes.

This isn't complicated. Simply a public service announcement.

I get that. But all the issues could be very minor and used as leverage to work out a reduced price. If the seller is lying, a good negotiater could possibly call her out on it and get her to lower the price even more.

All fair and well. Unfortunately dealer notes are not usually the most descriptive prose.

Re: the water damage. A previous entry from the dealer notes water intrusion found at rear backup camera causing it to no longer function. The notes state the camera's "ECU" needs to be completely replaced. Additionally, the CD player was found to have the same issue, water damage and needing replacement.

The PPI screenshot above was 3 months after this service entry date. I'd wager that a PO attempted to sell the truck only to have potential buyer inspect it and be told it is not a safe vehicle. You're right, there's not enough info in the ad to know what rust was described as problematic. But that PPI alone tells me this vehicle has been owned by a less than faithful caretaker at some point.

The ad in conjunction with what's in its service history has all the hallmarks of being a dud. Maybe there's a deal in there somewhere, but good luck convincing the seller to drop their price by several order of magnitude.

Rather this info be out there for potential shoppers than not! As the title suggests, beware.

Man, I grew up in this neighborhood. Used to be a real decent place - good, stand-up folks.

If you bought a quarter, you got an honest to goodness quarter....

How does a less than forthright person on craigslist mean a whole neighborhood isn't decent any more?? There are dishonest people all over the place - geography doesn't matter.

It was a joke there Mr. mcgaskins. I was poking fun at MY former neighborhood.

A lot has changed over the years and a LOT of folks have moved to the state (from all geographies) - so yes, it really doesn’t make a lick of difference.
