Best way to treat some surface rust?

Thoughts? Looks like just surface rust, but I plan on keeping this truck for many more years!

Take the bolt out, wire wheel the area, then paint it to prevent it from coming back.

Unless you plan to paint the original color, I would not worry about that degree of corrosion. It is really nothing.

Put some petroleum jelly on it. Will eliminate all the rust. Brush it on the rust will be gone

Or just talk to it for a few hours. Reason with it. Get it to understand why it is not welcome.

Or take it to a therapist. Get it to understand that it's extracurricular habits are ruining your relationship. That the amount of time you take cleaning up after it could be time spent bonding together
