Hey everybody. I was woundering if somebody can help me to pick the best spark plugs for my 1997 fzj80. I'm looking for an spark plug that will hell me to increase my mpg if is possible and performance.
 
get stock plugs cryotreated
 
Sorry to say this but whatever plugs you use you will not get any real noticeable mpg gains or performance gains on an 80, unless your plugs are really old
Getting better mpg's and an 80 do not go in the same sentence.

Just stick with the OEM plugs that are recommended for the 80
 
Denso plug part number 90919-01176
The same plug is also used in other Toyota motors as well like my 93 Geo with a Corolla motor in it.
Go to the toyota dealer and ask for it
Change interval around 50k IIRC

Just changed my plugs last week
#6 is a PITA
 
FWIW I've had good performance out of Denso IK16 Iridiums.
 
Either the Denso or the NGK that are listed in the FSM and owner's manual as replacement plugs.

I use the NGK, not that I think it makes a difference.
 
Don't get it from dealer. OEM spark plugs are manufactured by DENSO anyway. You will be paying $4 extra for the Toyota printed box.

OEM is just the regular Denso copper plugs that you can get anywhere for no more than $2 per plug.

I would upgrade it to the the DENSO IK16 about $7 a pop that will last for at least 100k. The site below ran out IK16 though.

I'll somewhat agree with you. Going with anything more expensive than a basic copper plug will actually give you lower performance because the metals used will actually conduct less efficiently than copper. Platinum and iridium will last longer though.
However, I did a dyno test about two years ago where I installed 6 new OEM (Denso) plugs, ran a few dyno runs, and then swapped out the essentially brand new plugs with 6 more OEM plugs that were cryo'd. Horsepower DID go up and emissions did go down. The HP increase? IIRC it was 9HP. While that may not sound like much, it was on a 4WD dyno. The numbers increased even more when I did the runs another time with cryo'd plug wires, cap, rotor and coil. You could also deduce from this that your gas mileage should improve as well, although I'm not sure by how much.
 
thank yall for helping me to pick the right plugs, im gonna go with the OEM plugs. and try to find somebody to cryo them
 
What does the cryotreatment process entail? Also how much does it run? I am going to be replacing my plugs and wires soon and I am considering the man a fre tune up kit. Has anyone run that kit with positive results?

Cryo treating "aligns" the carbon atoms in the molecular microstructure. This allows the metal to react to things like heating and cooling and stress in a much more uniform manner. An axle shaft for example will have greater strength and wear properties. Another benefit of this process is the carbon molecules will conduct electricty better.

The cost for a treated OEM boxed plug is $10. Most other items are based on the weight of the item.

Denso and like they mentioned in this thread, "spark plugs and fuel economy don't go on the same sentence when it comes to Land Cruiser".
 
I have been using Bosch platinum for the last 125K kms (on second set) and had good life with them so far. I just don't like replacing them every 25K.
