@65swb45 I am betting you are absolutely correct Mark. Just the kind of screw job our "elected officials" and I am using that term loosely, pull all the time. They have been pulling bs in NY for years, one of MANY reasons I left. Their latest latest screw job on the populous is to dump ALL the salt they are allocated per year whether it is needed or not so they get the same allotment the following year. Roads back there have tremendous potholes and are white from like late November well into March...............HUGE scam!!! The roads are so loaded and impregnated with salt that driving in the winter the roads frequently appear dusty as you drive down them from all the salt your tires are kicking up!!!

Yup they pop up when you least expect it thats for sure. And usually at the time you have low funds lol.

Oregon does NOT use salt. I have found tons of low to no rust Land Cruisers over the last couple decades. East of the cascades is very dry, lots of ranches and hiding places for Land Cruisers.

Just read last week that in certain circumstances (surprise heavy snow storms, etc) a few places are going to start experimenting with salt here in Oregon. My guess is that the Portland metro area and the Columbia Gorge will be the first place it is used.

even when states and counties use sand on the road, there is a percentage of salt mixed in with the sand to keep it from freezing in the piles and to help with some de-icing on the roadway.
It just depends on where the salt/sand will be used, when we produce the product for the state and counties, the salt percentage is anywhere from 6% up to 20%
sometimes the spec is for a larger size sand mixed in which either helps stay on the roadway and doesn't get blown off as easily, but they get kicked up and breaks windshields

Here is some salt for you guys FML i couldnt wash the truck fast enough after 8hr drive home
