I just finished my 3” lift OME suspension and knuckle rebuilds. Man my wife is happy cuz that’s messy work. I’m painting my rim center hubs and the rims look pretty good but these water marks seem kinda deep.

What’s you favorite chrome restorer product?

I seem to remember that I also came up with a power drill with a spinning pad on it with those scouring products. Give it a try before the steel wool.

I’ve used 0000 steel wool successfully before
This. Use it with foaming glass cleaner and light pressure and it will only take a few minutes per wheel. Get a new piece of steel wool if it starts to pickup dirt. The chrome is many times harder than the steel wool and will not be scratched by it unless you are putting a lot of excess pressure. I did a set of 5 of the wheels pictured in ~20min last summer.

Thanks man. We were near you a couple of months ago when we flew from Austin, Texas to Boise then drove up to McCall for the snow sculpture festival. We had camped near there a couple of yrs ago and really liked the town. Great area and amazing public lands. We don’t have that here in the great state of Texas. And I dig the color(s) of your rig!

After 0000 steel wool cleanup, apply car wax to the rim to temporarily prevent rust/seal the pores in the chrome. It'll work for a while, at least.

Steel wool as others have said plus CLR works awesome. Clean them with soap/water after, then as @SteveH said, wax them up.

Steel wool is softer than chrome so it won't scratch it.

If you are a closet tire shine person like I am, I just overspray the tire shine every time and wipe them clean. The idea is to keep an oxygen barrier going on there to shunt corrosion, and tire shine works just fine for that.

Simple Green and 0000 steel wool will shine them back up!
