Hey, that is cool! Have you sourced any parts yet? I'd be interested in moding mine.

I just e-mailed the shop in England regarding this upgrade, I asked about pricing, shipping and possibly a group buy, will update asap when I hear from them.

my e-mail just got bounced back, invalid address, thier e-mail doesn't work:(

Why? The 8274 is fast enough to break parts as is. I dont need any help in that department! Seriously with around 50/ft min. loaded why would you need something faster? I mean that video of his just looks crazy!

Twice the Power and Twice the speed scares me. I have never been stuck enough to need more power out of my 8274. Things happen fast enough with the speed as it is.

If you put twice the power and speed on one of these things people are going to rip thier front bumpers of or at least bend frames. Not to mention the cable spooling in a knot.

 amen brother!

These mods are popular in Europe because they have competitive timed events- winching challenge events. The extra speed of the 8274 makes it competitive but there are those who need more, they have dual motors etc on their competition rigs.

I've never seen anything here in the US that is similar to these challenges. For recreational use the winching challenge type 8274s would likely be overkill.

Google "winching challenge" you'll come across some neat stuff- it would be interesting to do here in the States. Perhaps events of this nature will take off some day.

See if ats4x4dotcom on this site will point you to an old post he made about modding the winch. He posted up some mods for waterproofing it and making it hardier than it comes stock. I can't remember where he posted it and can't find it, but I know he's the dude that posted it.
