Some time ago I started collecting parts to strengthen the axel housings on my 69' FJ40 . I Bought two axel trusses from Bullistic Fabrication , one for the front and and one for the rear axel.I have a traction bar mount allready welded to the center of the housing . I split one of the trusses to fit around the traction bar mount and tig welded it . I also extended breather tube to go through the truss . Now i pulled diff cover off and fab. a ring out of 1/2" plate with the same bolt pattern as the cover ,simmerly to the one Trout Intdustrise sells except I added a wing on each side for mounting purpouses of the diff cover protector.I need to say this is going between the housing and the diff cover. I need to find longer studs to bolt this up. where can i find these studs. thanks Dennis

Toyota still sells the longer OEM diff studs (i.e. two are longer due to configuration of diff) - they may be the same thread pattern as the rear diff cover. I just picked up a few for a front housing - and have a spare rear sitting in the shop - I can check tonight. Have the P/N on the parts bag...

I'm sitting here looking at 4 brand new, still with the factory thread lock, PN 90116-10124 i got from Sierra Toyota bout a year ago. they are just over 3.5 inches long. They seem top be 10 mm but not sue of the thread and too lazy to go find my thread gauge. The shorter ones are just over 2 inches long, PN90116-A0025, purchased at the same time.

I bought these to accommodate putting an '80 elocker in a FF '60 axle.

Hope that helps.

Steve

Ok, I stoped at the John Deere dealership and picked up some metric Grade 8 bolts , paid for them by the pound instead of paying the high price of the studs. It cost me about $8.00 with tax instead of $3.40 each and that incluided the washers.
