I'm leading a run for my club to Rocker Panel Pass. And you Cruiser nuts are welcome to tag along. Sunday November 14th. The plan is to meet at the Saguaro Lake turnoff on State Route 87 (Beeline Hwy), be fueled and ready to go. We will leave no later than 8:30 AM, CB Ch. 14. After a short trip up the highway from there, we will turn off for the dirt. If all goes well, we will make a loop that comes out on the Verde River near Rio Verde, north of Fountain Hills. If there are too many delays, we'll loop back through the Sycamore Creek area. The run has a little of everything: rocks, brush, washes, hills and great views. Due to a particular obstacle (the trails namesake), I'd rate this trail a 4. Recommended minimum equipment: 1 locker with 33" tires or 2 lockers with 31" tires. Lesser equipped, or longer un lifted vehicles may make it or be pulled through but body damage is likely. The brush is dense some places, but I plan to trim some more as we go again. Desert paint graphics will occur! :)

yes i will shoot for this run. im trying to remember if we can get to the log corral trail from rocker panel, its a good trail and ends at bartlett. also some of us were wanting to do a sycamore creek run soon, maybe it could be a sat/sun camping type thing. but with all the little cruiserheads due, i dont know.

P.S. i do stippling too! but i'll admit you are much more refined than i am.

There may be a way to Log Corral from there. We were exploring a road that was heading in that direction hoping it might be a less brushy route in from the hwy. But we gave up after it became faint and obvious it wasn't veering the way we wanted to go.

Refined? getting there. It's just plain insanity really. I always question "why the hell am I doing this" about half way through a drawing. But thanks anyway.

I have heard of Rocker Panel Pass, but I don't know where it is. I did a search and saw pictures, but no explanation as where this trail actually is. Can you provide more info? Where does it meet the beeline, and where does it go?

Can a moderately lifted 55 make it through rocker panel pass with its rocker panels intact?

just curious

Jared

Count us in. No matter which rig we'll be driving.
We'll most likely camp too.
This time we're going to hogtie Rhino so he can't pie out on us for the overnight. :D

From the lake turn off it's just a few miles over the hill to the next valley, then you turn left at Mesquite Wash. From there your on FR 160 all the way to the Verde.

Maybe, probably, depends on your line. No warranty expressed or inplied :D

This picture shows the spot

He's taking a bad line though, or he slid into it. I usually go real high on the right and side hill it left.

Have fun with the camping, Sycamore might be less than peaceful though. Butcher Jones might be better.

I have been to Mesquite wash a bunch of times-- in the distant past the confluence of mesquite wash and sycomore creek was always a family favorite until so many people started using it as a personal trash dump.

But I didn't know the road went anywhere from there. I thought it dead ended around the confluence. I certainly did not know that you could go all the way to the verde from there.

FR 160 runs up stream from the entrance then heads W/NW to get to the River. The route takes you quite a bit north of the Sycamore savages area.

Was up at Upper Sycamore (Sugarloaf) a couple of weeks ago (on a Sat.) and did not see one person or vehicle. I was surprised to say the least

Just a reminder:
We're going rain or shine

stoopid birfield!!!

So was that the verdict? Which side?
Glad you made it back ok and nice to meet you guys. Probably best you turned around. We had a lot of fun getting Kelly's 40 up the next hills with the slippy clutch and dead battery. The other 40 had tough time too. Then at the very end, the guy in the Toy PU thrashed through the river and sent his fan into the radiator. I ended up towing him all the way back to Tempe. ;p

A lot of carnage for an "easy run"

Holy crap!
Hey Cliff you ought to tell Ben and Kelly to come join us on Ih8mud.

I'll do that. I don't know Ben that well but Kelly has been a pal for a good many years.
Maybe you guys up north can get something together for a run.

Where are the pics?? :flipoff2:

Ah yes, pictures. There seemed to be lots of cameras about, but mine wasn't one of them. Maybe some of the other photogs will put some out.
