I'm replacing the starter in my 96 and unhooked the negative battery cable. When I unhooked it I was thinking it and the positive were looking pretty beat up and wanted to replace them. I would like to get a good set and was wondering what other people were using. I would like ones with extra room to and to.

I've replaced both positive and negative cables and I used OEM parts. Most of the Mudders here use OEM parts as much as possible. Cdan and Beno are your friends for Toyota parts.

I have heard of alot of mudders going to these Mil spec style. I want to go to these some day soon. just have not got around to it yet.

Yep, go mil style. I have them on both batteries on my 80 and also on both batteries of my patrol. Much nicer for adding extra cables such as winch, dual battery wiring, etc. There's no reason at all to stick with OEM in this case and many good reasons not to.

cheers,
george.

^^^x2 and while you're at it, check your fusible link. Mine was pretty trashed. I learned from 'Mud members to swap that out and keep the old one as a spare. My only hang up with swapping to mil spec terminals was the fusible link terminal was too small for the mil spec battery connection. I ended up using an adapter from Napa. I've seen vendors selling the whole setup here. Some even have adapted fusible links in the set.

just make sure you get quality connectors.
I've had several cheap "military style" connectors fail on me, but I bought them for cheap so I got what I paid for.

X10 on the mil spec connector and going with a new fuseable link at the same time. It's like 10$ from the dealer. I had to slightly file the connector to fit in the mil spec terminal. But it's worth it. No more over torqued loose battery terminals
