Batteries With High Power Side Posts?? (1 Viewer)

Hey Guys

Everyone knows that the Optima is a great battery but that the side post are rated for only like 20-50 amps or something like that.

Anyone know of a similar battery that has multiple posts that CAN handle large loads??

the Excide Orbitals, are suppose to be fine for high draws off the side terminals

I run them but still attach my winch cables to the top posts........

Which one(s) are you running? What are your thoughts on them in general? I am currently looking into a new battery and will eventually be adding a second and would like to keep them of like make!

so far I like them, but only have a little over a year on the oldest one. I have 4 of them I think, they are replacing all my Optimas as they die....

I have the XCD's, cost about $120 or something.

All you have to do is fab up or have fabbed up a short cable a tie the top into the side, Waggoneer here has some pix of his I'm sure.

I think what he is saying is, run another cable for both the +- from the to post to the side posts, that way the side posts are drawing most the power thru the top posts, so there is no issue using the side posts........

frankly this seems like a waste of cable, if your gonna do that might as well just run the winch off the top posts......instead of added more cables.

or maybe I am missing something?

Nah, i agree with ya 100%, that does seem like a waste of cable AND it seems super lame to have to do that to a $150 battery. NO ONE makes a battery with 4 or so full load post? That is odd! Maybe someone should start!
