Too far north. Too far east.
There isn't enough four letter words in the English language to satisfy me right now.

Damage.

Radio Trim: $28.29
Dash: $216.75
Window: $31.25
Radio bracket: $13.66 (they bent the snot out of one of them)
Radio: $100

What pisses me off is the radio comes out with TWO SCREWS, and the trim panel pops right off. Instead they tear up everything and bend the crap out of the dash. And they didn't take the damn radio! They only popped off the face plate, which was not the removable kind.

Fawkers.

That sucks, Jon.

aren't you glad the runner was in the garage?

That is exactly why the 4Runner is in the garage. The Camry is expendable. I need to get Da'40 done so I can get rid of the Camry and have nothing parked in the driveway.

Intelligence is not something most thieves have. They'll shred and destroy everything in sight and often times not even get what they intended to steal because they trash it in the process.

My sister had the exact same thing happen to her last week in her Camry. What is unbelievable is that they broke the same window as yours, despite the fact that the doors were unlocked because her key-fob had been malfunctioning. The damage to the window and dash will cost her a lot more money to fix than replacing the bad key fob. Don't ask me why she didn't lock the doors with the little metal thingy called a key which would probably have turned the alarm on anyway.

I feel your pain - bastards.

Found out from PD that I was not the only car hit. I was sure they were after the garage remote ... which of course was in the house. At least I don't feel singled out. There was a car hit just down the street, and another someplace in the neighborhood. I was just the first in the 'hood to find out. Now I need to deal with the insurance company.

GRRRRRRRR

Jon -

Major bummer. Especially since you've been through this before.

It feels very frustrating because the police never seem to catch anybody, and even if they did, there seems to be no consequences. So the losers just keep doing it over and over again.

I like Rory's idea, or maybe a way to booby trap the vehicle. It's crazy and we shouldn't even have to cosider such things, but...

GRRRRRRRR

The total for parts and labor should be just below your $500 deductible. Bummer.

When my motorcycle was stolen, I wanted to kill. And when the police found it four days later I was relieved. One I was getting the bike back and two some justice would be served. Well I only got number one. An apartment manager called the police because the motorcycle was parked in front of one of the apartments. After asking the tenants "working on it" to move it several times, he called the police three days later.

The police knew which apartment. They had fingerprints, and f'ing BLOOD. The bastards, I mean police, didn't even bother. They left before I had the bike in my pickup! And never followed up. I called the next week, and was run around to different answering machines. I finally talked to a detective that assured me they were doing "everything we can Mr. Schnell."

So good luck on the Justice.

FWIW. A few years ago I had my Tacoma broke into. A police officer coming home for "lunch" at 2am saw a car driving around the neighborhood with no lights on. He pulled them over and found a bunch of stolen stuff in the car. He and his buddies starting driving the neighborhood looking for broken glass and found a bunch. Two of the guys were over 18, the other two were not.

One of the adults skipped. The other pled out. The minors had to do restitution, which involved a face to face with Nylia and me. I reamed them. Told both kids flat out they were 1) lucky I didn't own a gun, and 2) I didn't catch them. All three paid me for my damages.

Sheesh Jon, I'm surprised you don't have an alarm. As you will recall, my '85 4Runner was stolen across town and then found, stripped, in *your* neighborhood.

That's real crappy Jon...sounds like a recurring nightmare for you! Leave the car unlocked from now on until you get rid of it. At least this way, you won't be inconvenienced as much.

Leaving it unlocked may not reduce the likelihood of broken windows. See my post from a few days ago.

HERE's whatcha do- !.
1.get a bunch of empty stereo boxes -pile HIGH inside the car..!
2.Get crossbow- sack of quicklime, shovel or backhoe, and find a nice hiding place w/ a good field of fire.
3.Drink PLENTY of coffee, and get ready to stay up all night Friday and Saturday.
(not too much to get you too jittery to hit where you aim, however)
4.(fill in blank)
