No getting lost, the Garmin file is available. If you want the waypoints send me your email.

You've never traveled with us before. We get lost on trails we know.

I have a Magellan so the Garmin files won't do me much good.

Are you planning on joining us?

Let's pick a campsite where we'll be protected from wind and snow .

When :princess: and I drove through Garfield Flat it looked like there were a lot of good places to camp on it's South side. There were enough Pinion and Juniper to provide some protection from wind anyway. IIRC there were also some pretty nice spots in Silver Dyke canyon that would hold a small group.

I just checked the elevation at Bass Camp, nearly 6900', could get chilly at night there.

The wife votes for staying the night in Hawthorne, so IF we go, the camp site has to be at least somewhat pretty or we'll be driving back to town in the dark...

Laughs will be on you Mister. Last time I was at the El-Cap, the room was better than the ones in Lovelock....

Plus I'll be eating the delicious cooking of the latest, future customer of my services....

The one and only time I ate at the Captains I wished I had died instead, I must have made 50 "pit" stops before I got to Reno, or Beatty, I can't remember which way I was going. One thing for sure I was "going". That was probably 35 years ago.
I'm guessing the cock roaches have evolved enough to have a constitution and elected officials by now.

And if that don't getcha the cig smoke will

C'mon. Third and fourth-hand smoke is the new best thing for your complexion and your overall well being..

It's either the El-Cap, or the other fleabag motel down the street. At least the El-Cap has wi-fi and cable for the rugrat to watch. Hopefully she won't catch any diseases from the carpet...

The other place actually didn't look that bad last time we passed through.

My :princess: isn't much for camping so we will be going home saturday night. And if it isn't a AAA 3 star or better I'd rather sleep in the car. When we went to marlins to p/u a crawl box for my sons mini we stayed at a roadside motel in Fresno and we checked for bed bugs by quickly thowing down the covers. Well no bugs just black curly hairs. We slept with our clothes on and on top of the bed spread which probably wasn't even much cleaner. I did try to get new sheets from the office so we could change them and the office person hid behind the counter and wouldn't acknowlegde me no matter how hard I pounded on the door. Thank you very very much(best said in an east indian accent)

Just to let folks know... my schedule is kind of mess at present and I'm now sure I won't be able to participate on Sunday. But I'm trying to figure out how I might participate on Saturday. If I do, it will likely be at the last minute. So plan without me and, if things works out, I'll just show up at the Hawthorne meeting point.

So how many people that are going have 2m radios?

How many are still using only CB's?

I can bring both, but if I don't have to, I will leave the CB at home (preferred).

Jack

I might have a hand held CB, but that's it. The one I had in the Rover got sold with it...

Hopefully I won't have a situation like the bridge crossing up at Frenchmans!
