Thinking of driving the 40, will probably leave now to make sure I get there in time. I have requested fuel drops from the national guard as the old F sure does use the fuel. It does have a 75w Yaesu and a winch.

I have a 55 gallon drum you can throw in the back for fuel storage....
might just work.
I've used my HT on the trail before, 0.5W is usually plenty. If you need it I have a Mag mount antenna which will help a lot, it is an SMA so you might need an adapter if your antenna is a different type.Exactly, I get to be that guy on this trip.
I picked up a yaesu FT-270r for my 2m radio. It's only a handheld, but I figured I would start there and of course they are always useful. I still plan on adding the 8800 eventually, but for now, 5 watts max for me.

Are there trails to the camp suitable for a mild cherokee? I'm planning to go just to see the camp, don't want to hold anyone up on the fun stuff. Assuming I get the driveline vibration (I think) sorted out this week.

Let me know if I missed you, my brain is like a sieve lately.
