Trivia

Gas prices in Mexico are fixed by the government and dispensed from government controled, but locally ran, Pemex stations. Current prices will make you sick. Prices are adjusted monthly and are consistant along the peninsula except for right at the border where they are allowed to charge more.

Regular, 87 octane: $6.77MXN/L = $2.39USD/Gal
Premium, 91 octane: $8.48MXN/L = $2.99USD/Gal

Diesel was less than regular, much less, but I didn't write it down.

My truck pinged on both with the timing retarded 4 degrees. Premium is available near the border. I could only get regular in the interior.

For comparison last year the price was $6.16MXN/L for regular and $7.19MXN/L premium. My notes from last year say $2.34/gal and $2.73/gal respectively.

[sigh] :flipoff2:

I have a story to go with that, but alas, I can't tell it here. Too bad. :D

Also, a milestone this trip.

Yep, there's wind, then there's WIND.

So, can you jump up in the air and click your heels together? You could be in a commercial...

Actually, you make me miss my '85 4Runner... Great machines.

I think this is safe to post. Google Earth file up at:
http://bushrat.hdcruisers.org/baja2008mar.kml

It will open a text file. Save it, then you can either double click on the file, or open in Google Earth. Of course Google Earth needs to be installed on your computer. It's free.

Slide show is prepared (6mb). You will need to send me a PM for the mystery link.

Mystery link? My, aren't we coy... Send it princess.
