B engine valve springs (1 Viewer)

Does anyone know if the B engines came with single inlet and exhaust valve springs or did they come with double valve springs like the 3B? I thought they all had doubles, but just came across a rebuilt B head (very low miles, about 2000km) with single springs on each valve. Perhaps the inners where left out by the shop?? I think the engine is about a 1980.

It list that a 2B should have a inner and outer valve spring for both exhaust and intake.

Thanks Dieseler, for the confirmation that the 2Bs had 2 springs, but this is a B engine, head part #11111-56020 and it has me puzzled. My engine FSM (aug 1980, B series, B, 2B, 3B)implies inners and outers on all the B series of engines (my parts lists are on microfiche and the bulb in my microfiche reader bit the dust some time ago...) with only one set of spring values given for length and strength, so I would assume they are all the same??

My B engine have only 1 outer spring for the valve. It came that way when it's not rebuild.

The Rebuild kit give you outer and inner spring. Hop to you if you want only the outer spring. the outer spring have the same spec of the single original spring.

When I rebuild my engine head I put the inner and the outer and it's work great. Go Stronger can't be bad

For the very last year, B engines shared the double spring configuration with the 3B (July 1980+)

However 02 '74 through 07 '80 had a single valve spring (which was still called an inner spring, oddly):
