I picked up my auxiliary gas tank and have pics and measurements so I hoping for some incite from others as to how and what thickness to do it.

Here's is my tank. I don't know where it came from or whether it is home built or not.

I realize that I need to relocate the fill neck to the proper side.

As far and thickness of the plate is concerned: 1/4" for aluminum and 3/16 for steel?

The tank measures ~ 34.5 x 18 x 11

Would you do a plate covering the entire tank or partial meaning like 28" from the rear and 13 as it comes up attach to the welded in c channel on the crossmember where the shocks attach.

There is a 1/8" plate already attached to the tank from the PO?

My skid plate is 1/8" and does not cover the sides.

My aux gas tank skid plate looks just like bsevans' in the above post. It's at least 1/8" thick and was custom made by Paul Decker. The original one is really thin so I gave it away.

Btw, you tank looked like the older style where it's mounted through the floor, where bsavens and mine are held in place by the skid plates.
