I'd rather have the fuel level.

I don't always remember if I have fuel in the aux tank. I often go weeks without filling up and wouldn't remember if I had used the aux supply. My wife may also drive and she may not know if I've filled the aux tank.

The switch has a failsafe in that if it detects the tank level sender as empty, will shutoff the pump in about a minute.

My exact thoughts. I don’t want my wife or me to over fill the tank. Evap damage would suck.

In early March, before the Apocoflu hit, I was with the family up in Southern Utah. We filled up the main and Aux tanks in Page, AZ and headed to the North side of Lake Powell. Beautiful area and a fun drive. When we settled in for the night, I heard what I thought was a leak from the Aux tank. I have the 24 gallon one from Ward and have recently installed it in my 2018 LC. I climbed down from the RTT on the Turtleback trailer and looked all over for a puddle. None. But an intermittent drip persisted. Perhaps everyone else already knows this, but since I used the main tank on the drive, I had not used any fuel from the Aux tank. I parked the LC at a slight angle and it was just enough to cause fuel to come up the neck and then run back down into the factory tank, one drop at a time. Thought this might save someone else the aggravation of being "gasoline boarded" over night in an otherwise, perfect setting.

Cheers,
-Economist

NOTE: I LOVE the tank and the stress reliever it is in planning fuel stops. Ward provided excellent customer service and answered all my install questions.

I'm looking at purchasing a 12 gallon model for my '17 LC 200. Does anyone have a list of the upgraded pump and hardware being installed by Slee or Eric's dealership? Better yet, anyone selling a kit of the upgraded parts?

I would call them and ask.

Are you guys manually stopping at the Aux tank's capacity or are you talking about not topping off the tank after it auto-stops?

Once it auto-stops do not keep filling because you didn’t get 12.5 gallons. When it stops it stops.

Don't all wives know that's how tanks work?? 😂

bumping this thread.... yes I went through all of it and now I cant remember!!!! ... so here's my question - the 24 gallon LRA tank - will this interfere or cause any clearance / access issues with the rear differential oil change (drain and fill plug access) or any other regular maintenance that needs to be carried out in that area??

Nope! It sits up higher than your spare would.

No issues.

man!!!! I’ve been lusting after your Rig ever since I joined!! It’s a beautiful set up n that slee rear bumper looks like a work of art !!!! And I don’t even have a cruiser yet !!!!! But when I do .... that bumper n a 24 gallon LRA will be the first thing that’ll go in .... we take a lot of long road trips as a family n the one thing that bugs me in our current ride is limited range —- 300 miles tops !!!! The ability to not have to stop after dark at remote places for gas is such a safety benefit !!!!!

Any thoughts on how to get this done for a California 200? Valley Hybrids says no dice on install for a Ca truck.

Hmmm...
Remove license plate...
Install tank...
Replace license plate?
:steer:

Seriously though... They ship tanks all over the country (Georg at Valley Hybrids is partnered with Ward Harris)...and fortunately, most states are less silly than CA.

PM all of the members that have them in CA and ask how they got them. It seems like there are a few of them.

Not sure it’s that easy otherwise I would. It’s a 50k fine for them if they get caught.

I was mostly kidding.

But ya.
Unfortunately, VH has to protect itself from the disproportionate whims and wiles of CA.
