A whole 5 threads in the section for the newest GLS, out for 6 years now. Compared to 400+ here, out for 4.

It's like they don't even care...must have better things to do!
My wife's last car was a 2021 GLS 450. It was honestly a piece of s***. It was nice but everything was starting to break when we sold it earlier this year. Never ever ever keep one past initial warrantee

Yeah my 2019 MB is a creaking mess, but apart from that and some trim issues the powertrain appears to be fine...for now. They certainly don't make them like they used to. Parents had a w140; I never had a 100 series but I imagine that must have been what it was like.

Go over to MBworld...lots of threads on the various gls models...Sorry, My other forum is AMG based;) '13 s212 e63 p30. 1 of 59 wagons imported that year. All my AMGs have been bulletproof...I preventatively maintain just like the LX. Others were E55 (intro to AMG) and S55 (low mileage short term fun project).

It's important to remember that a manufacturers written warranty does not outweigh the laws, federally, or locally. This is where severability is important to understand. This understanding helps people that modify new vehicles not worry about it. And Generally mod-ers of new vehicles, just like the owner of this mod stated, got way better and more fun things to do than worry about a warranty.

IMO and in my experience (though only 2 data points of a trouble free MB and BMW), there is a difference between German manufactured at home base (I.e. MB Sindelfingen near Stuttgart and BMW Dingolfing near Munich) and other locations outside Germany. A vehicle plant is an assembly line so you get different mentality and the same for many parts suppliers. You see the that with Toyota, though they are typically simple in setup and design which helps.

and see that the siphoning system works - hope it does, otherwise I will install an inline fuel pump.
I think that is actually the beauty of this install as OEM main and aux tanks use the same siphoning setup instead of a separate transfer pump.

Keep us posted please whether this works 👍🏻

This is my truck - picked it up today. Next step is to fill both tanks and see that the siphoning system works - hope it does, otherwise I will install an inline fuel pump.
Update for everybody - the siphoning system works exactly as described: aux tank is emptied first, then the main tank. Fuel gauge and range remain constant full until you start using the main tank. Drove yesterday over 650 miles and still have over ¼ tank remaining. Max range works for me at about 750 miles (full to dry). No issues at all to report - very, very happy.

That range is absolutely ridiculous!

Adding further:

I assume the answer is no since the 'quick fill' vent connections are very similar to factory; but have you had any trouble with the gas pump clicking off prematurely?

Holy sheet 750 miles, that’s awesome
Need buns of steel!

Thanks for the updates
Getting more excited by the day
My Aux tank arrived at Port of Los Angeles and is being handed over to Fedex
Please keep us posted on the tariff/import duty fees are.

Yes my 2015 S63 coupe is a keeper. Hope this LX turns out the same way.

No issues. I've already burned through an entire 43 gallons... And leave for the Smoky Mountain 500 on Sunday, it will be 1300+ miles towing my camper at 8mpg... so maybe 3 fillups? I'm also very happy with it!
