twitch.tv/baothebuilder Auxbeam ABS test print going live now.

@SammyNicotine first few that passes quality inspection is yours boss, thank you again for providing us with the file. @Pipewhiner Black i assume?

Also, these only take a few hours to make, so i am thinking $10 including ship should cover it.

Success! Took me a little longer than I wanted to get back in the garage. Had to make some modifications to the design to make more clearance on the back side, but the latest version fits good.

This is so cool! My buddy is into 3d printing, gonna get him to make me one from your file. Thanks for doing the leg work!
Two unrelated questions:
How did you route the wiring to the switch panel?
What CarPlay/android auto solution are you using?

I made 5 in ABS, and can easily made more if needed. Well I made like 8 but goofed around on a few, that ended up failing QC.

Sammy gets these for free - limited to 1 lifetime; fine, for eternity.

Everyone else if you could put a small donation towards shipping and filament costs ($15 should cover it), that would be much appreciated. If you don't have $15 just shoot me your address anyways if you need 1.

Hey everyone, dm me an address if you'd like one. I only do shipping once a week so we will worry about money later, just want to get it done while I'm out. @Pipewhiner thank you for the $15 (coffee monies) and I will get it out today.

Very generous my man! I'm actually good to go here. My little prusa mini was just big enough to make myself one and it's been working great. You can sell those! I thought I recall seeing some cup holder upgrades 3d printed though, and some covers for those holes in the back when you remove the third row. Are you doing any of those too?

You're quite welcome. Felt good to give back to the community and was a fun project.

So the wiring comes in up the A pillar and then up behind the headliner to the console. If you take the A piller off it's pretty easy to run the wiring up there. I did have to make a hole kind of towards the back of the sunglasses holder opening and from there the wires can just run up behind it. These switch solutions are amazing for reducing the wires. Before this would have been a whole mess of them for this many switches. If you'd like I can take some pictures of the A pillar and the hole I put in the console sometime. May be a few weeks though.

For carplay I'm using the Grom audio Vline 2 setup. After they got some of the bugs worked out the connection has been good and I like the factory look and how easy it was to install. They have still be doing regular software updates on them too which I thought was cool. I read through all the forum posts here of the other big screen android solutions too and part of me really wanted to go that route, but some of them are a lot of work, especially if you have to track down the australian/euro climate controls and all.

@SharpeCat - will you be doing any development of other switch panels? Happy to send a bunch more “coffee money” for R&D.

I am just getting started; build the machines first then find them work. Thank you for the ideas and help.

My biggest challenge is getting proper dimensions or finding a 3d model that has already been done, from there adaptation Is easy as Sammy already laid down a template.

What did you have in mind? If it is ARB lynx, I am already looking into it but if someone had a 3d model already drawn, then that will speed things up.

I was thinking of Switchpros. Haven’t looked into the Lynx system much. Do you have the ability to scan anything? I could send the Switchpros to you to build around.

My phone doesn't get the greatest scans; let me see if I can find dimensions online or even send switchpro an email explaining what I'm trying to do. I'm sure they have a museum of CAD files related to this that will save us all a big headache, and it gives people another good reason to buy a switchpro.

It's like if you buy the AUXBEAM you can get good mounting options from 3d prints, but if you buy switchpros you can't. No, I don't think they'll like that so maybe worth an email.l; to save us both headaches from doing things the hard way, and so they can have a chance to help as well. I will also suggest to them that they should be making these and offering these themselves.

OK email sent and fingers crossed. I'm hoping for a CAD file or any sort of 3d model, so we don't have to play any guessing games. This is for the switchpro and I will try sending ARB an email for the Lynx as well.

goin' crazy trying to print this!
purchased an Ender 3v2 and tried to print this file, and it would always end up a spaghetti mess. upgraded the printer and still had issues.
made the wise decision to buy an X1C, and it has the same issue. what print setting am I neglecting to set?

Live n' learn - enabling support fixed the print issue.

hey @SharpeCat , any luck getting those switchpros CAD files? Not for me of course but I was curious.

Close, I have it in the LC, but haven't installed it. One of my vendors sent a couple of different panels so I need to figure out which one I'm going to use.

Finally found a bit of time to install the auxbeam sunglass holder mount. Install was a snap, pun intended. Thanks SharpeCat. Now I just have to fill in the blanks.

Awesome! Very cool to see someone else make use of this. Hah, yeah now i think a lot of about finding 7 new things to power off of it. I hate the blanks :).
