Well, managed to make some more progress over the Christmas Break. It finally looks like a car again!
I put another coat of paint on the panels and added Raptor Liner underneath the tub (I know the various arguments about whether this will cause rust, but I've decided to give it a go).
I didn't take any pictures of the painting, mainly because I'm sick of getting painted fingerprints on my phone...
After that, the family helped lift the tub on to the frame, and here is the result...
I was glad to see that the green/black combo came up as well as I'd imagined.
Next came the installation of the various side panels (Mainly because I was putting off fixing the last couple of rusted panels... Also, the roof gutter needs to be lined up and I managed to get the door mechanism installed on both the fronts. The plastic retaining clips were all buggered, but I'll get some ordered before I put the door cards back on.
The still from above the rear doors had ended up still stuck to the roof, so I was annoyed to find it was completely F*#$ed. Ah well, i'm getting pretty good at patching up these awkward little rusted bits. I also left the front visor stuck to the roof (hadn't taken to any of the rivets yet) so that needed a bit of fixing as well.
Unfortunately, I got a bit carried away with the welding and forgot to take any photos. But the end result is rather good (if I do say so myself). Also, it's a hidden side that no one will ever see, so... meh.
Next: The roof... It wasn't in the best state BEFORE i left it in the shed for 10 years with birds s***ting on it. A lot of sanding and cleaning followed (at least it's strong enough to hold up the dog?)
