Asking for a friend - 2006 LX470 steering locks up when turning right at slow speed (1 Viewer)

A friend has a 2006 LX470 and the steering locks when turning right at slow speed. In other words, when turning the wheel to the right at slow speed, like a parking lot, the steering wheel will "stop" turning. If he backs off the steering wheel slightly and then goes again, it will then continue to turn pass the spot where it locked. He had the steering column replaced awhile back but that did not resolve the issue. It was doing it occasionally but has become more and more frequent until it's almost every time he tries to turn.

Any ideas where to start looking? I have not physically looked at it myself yet.

I don't know at the moment but will check with him.....It's been going on for a couple of years so I wouldn't think so, but who knows for sure.
