The fam and I are heading to Asheville one of these days. Does anyone have a favorite family friendly brewery up there? Without the kids I would def go to wicked weed etc but with the crew I'm leaning towards Disneyland I mean Sierra Nevada

Also any other recommendations for family stuff, likely will go to botanical gardens, vortex doughnuts, hugh five coffee... what else shall my kid posse and I go do or consume?

Guidance much appreciated.

I let my kids drink beer, but come on man, not in public! :)

But seriously, I bet you will get better recommendations than mine :)

Here are some ideas:

Go the breweries early before people get drunk - you can probably go to all of them, then.

Walk the city and when you get tired, Uber back to your car. Just get out and walk it. Wife and I walked from 240 back and forth across almost every street down to Buxton Hall for dinner. I was tired, took a Uber back to the Marriott :)

Good spot at end of the trip:

Vortex
Catawba
Burial
Greenman
Buxton Hall
ENO
Funkatorium if you like sours etc

If you are around that area, check out zapow

Fun new pop art place that I think is OK for kids - - can't remember anything too bad - but kids should like it.

Most are family friendly New Belgium has a nice open field with corn hole and a nice area to run around. Oscar Blues actually has a playground for kids but I'm am never impressed with the service there. Sierra Nevada is nice and family friendly. Highlands is nice and family friendly. In all honesty most are family friendly really it depends on what you want the kids to experience they might get bored at many of them.

After the 3rd beer they are all family friendly. ;-)

I would say Highland is the most kid friendly. On Friday nights they have music in the meadow and there are more kids than adults normally. Great time.

Sierra Nevada is kid friendly, as is New Belgium. I would say those are the largest space breweries....all three, I mean.

If it were me....I prefer Highlands if meeting a group and kids are involved. Plenty of parking and they have a few good trucks.

Never had a problem with kids at a brewery.

In terms of having a bunch of things to keep kids busy if needed. All the big ones, highland, Sierra Nevada, Oskar Blues, New Belgium, etc....

Good suggestikns so far. The bigger guys have more room amd activities for entertainment. Some smaller ones that seem to have frequent child patrons would be burial, wedge, ABC.

Asheville brewing company has kids menu and a used to have a outdoor movie night. Also its downtown so a good one to hit for lunch or dinner while checking out other downtown attractions.

Hillman, French Broad, and Catawba are all within walking distance of each other, and all are family freindly. Actually, I haven't run into a single one that isn't!

1st off Thank You all for the great recommendations!

Just to close the loop On what we ended up doing... only had 24 hrs there, and had to share votes/agenda with a big family.

I used my dad-vote to go to wicked weed, figured I should go where I was really wanted to go even if it wasn't the perfect kid spot. It was dad friendly and surprisingly wallet friendly, maybe it was a patio, daytime special or something. Neat spot, great beer!

Also hit up high five for fancy coffee three times, dang good. Not wallet friendly but way better than Starbucks.

Farm-burger was awesome, and super kid friendly. The log line moves fast.

Also hit up sunshine sammies for ice cream sandwichs. Dang good.

One of my new favorite spots is BiscuitHead, this is a must go spot. Long line so we did carry out. Expensive for what it is, but the quality and taste make it worthy it. We went to both locations, and both had fifty foot lines out the door, so decided to just cal in an order.

We went to the botanical gardens at university of NYC Asheville, cool and easy trails for kids. Stream crossings etc.

Next time we will need to go for longer, we explored the town as much as we could but I think there are just too many breweries and restaurants to explore for a short trip. Planning to go back in the fall.
