I saw these ARB promo vid's and thought you would all like them... its from 1986 .. I heard about this trail but never got to go on it as it got closed in the early 90's ...it was kinda like the ozzie version of the Rubicon.. legendary...it's called wirraba ridge just outside of Sydney about 1 1\2 hr north..... just to keep this tech has anyone ever had any problems with their ARB gear?......here is a little of their history.. I think that was tony in the red cap...YouTube - ARB 1986 Part1
YouTube - ARB 1986 Part2

The origins of ARB go back to 1975, when company founder, Tony Brown, was inspired by a 4WDing trip through the top end of Australia.
Back then, 4WDers relied on home made or ill fitting equipment that was not designed for extensive Outback expeditions. Endless corrugated roads, extreme temperatures, and the heavy loads carried by Australian travellers were extremely punishing on vehicles that regularly tackled these kinds of conditions.Tony’s many years spent toiling on his Series 1 Land Rover proved extremely beneficial to others in the top end during his travels. Damaged bull bars and broken roof racks ensured Tony’s expertise was regularly called on, and through this experience an idea was born – high quality, durable equipment that would meet the vigorous demands of 4WD owners.
Upon his return to Melbourne, Tony put theory into practise, and began working in the family garage to address some of the product deficiencies he’d encountered on his trip. It was exactly what Australian 4WDers had been waiting for, and ARB, the initials of Anthony Ronald Brown, was founded.

those are great- thanks for sharing- love the paint scheme- so classic

Where did you find those? I take it you posted the Youtube video.

Love the 70's porn star music and must have been the first generation of disclaimers. Or he was just trying to make the trails seem really scarry. Very cool though.

my wife just came down stairs thinken she cought me red handed...... tell she saw the video. kind of an odd choice of music but also reminds me of that movie legend with tom cruise

awsome vids though

Wonderful. But, while I realize it was merely a disclaimer, how was that "extreme"? Those are relatively mild trails. And what was up with that poor articulation? I saw nothing that should have lifted a tire off of the ground.

That's what I was thinking :grinpimp:

You guys watch too much 70's porn -- Sounds like the old wide world of sports, to me :D

Great vids, thanks!

That was cool. Thanks.

Maybe not extreme, but that last descent would have been butt clenching. Remember this was 1986 - massive articulation was not in vogue back then.

Love the part where the crazy spotter grabs the 60 and yanks it back on track.
He is stronger than he looks.

2x cool vid ...in 1986 that was over the top crazy wheelin

I agree, this WAS extreme for the time.

I have this on my office wall and after reading this thread I now know it has been there a long time.
ARB wall.webp

BTW is there a 60 10 minutes from me that has a similar paint job. I suppose it was either an ARB display vehicle or a big ARB fan from the 80's. It's in fairly bad nick with the roof rust patched in a novel way.

Just 100% awsum
