Did any one ever find an alternate fog light that worked on the 03+ bar? A decent one? Seems that most think the newer fogs aren't that great.

I like the new fog lights. They have a wide pattern and a good cutoff. I'm sure it's not a bright as the IPF kit but it puts out a good amount of light.

Hi,

How do they compare to the original Toyota for lights (in terms of light intensity and coverage)?

They put out a good amount of light, I will guesstimate roughly 35% more light over the factory fog lights. They have a nice crisp pattern. I have not seen the IPF's running so I'm not sure how much brighter the older style fog lights are for the ARB's

They stopped working late last week, I'm sure it's just a fuse, I just have not had any time to look into it.

I'll be installing them next week. Glad you say they're better than the OEM ones. I was already thinking of replacing the OEM bulbs with higher wattage ones.

............................................. ok, i can't really express how pissed off i am. I have replaced 5 fuses, all the wiring and connections and double checked everything. I am about to rip these stupid ass fog lights out and throw them in the garbage. Every time I turn them on, they go on for about 5 seconds then shut back off, resulting in another blown fuse. I don't understand it, I have replaced the little plastic .3 cent clip that is piontless, all the little female male connections which cut your finger, and grounded everything over again. I re ran the wires, re did the mounting, cleaned them out, checked the bulbs, checked the WIRING FOR THE 15th TIME!

the F is wrong?

any ideas?

im done. they are in the garbage by noon if I can't figure this out. These are the worst lights anybody could put on a vehicle, thank you ARB for these tonka toy BS fog lights. I would of been happier with lanterns...

Have you tried wiring them up one at a time? It sounds like there is a short circuit (or something functionally equivelant) somewhere in the system that is causing excessive current draw, which causes the fuses to blow.

You could try wiring them one at a time, and then testing. It could be that one of the lights is functioning fine, but the other is the problem--this could help isolate the problem if it is indeed with just one of the lights... not sure how much more energy you have left at trying to trouble shoot them (you could also just hook them up to a 12 volt battery directly, one at a time, with a fuse in series, to see if the fuse blows with either light. This would save you the trouble of messing with all the truck wiring.

Good luck...

Did you ever find a displacement? Where?how much? I may need one too.

Didn't get the part number. But its about 100 bucks for each side. I can't remember exactly though.

I decided to keep the broken insert in. Holds the light fine. Bound to happen again when I go crashing through a iced over creek again

I also got a wrong part number on one of the web sites and ordered the $300 IPF's. They don't fit my commercial bar and am stuck with them because I too opened everything up.:bang: I have them listed in the classifieds if anybody is going to be buying a Sahara bar. The IPF's are correct for them.

Ouch! Looks like mine will have to remain broken then too. 100 bucks for a piece of plastic is a bit much.

Makes me wonder if there could be a better design for these. One that would not be so exposed or susceptible to damage.

Thanks.

Is it worth it to put the 03+ ARB front bumper on a 99 LC? Yours (2000 LC) looks nice but I see you have/had problems with the fog lights. To be honest, the only reason I want the 03+ bumper is to keep my silly fog lights. I just wondered how this worked out and if you would still buy the same ARB again?

I have had problems, that is not to blame ARB for my issues. My wiring was not very good therefor fuses and shorts would become issues all the time. I recently pulled everything and rewired it.

Simply put the 03+ combo has many features that look/function much better than the 98-02 bar. So yes, regardless of how many bulbs the fog lights blow, I would put this bumper on any 100. It has withstood massive impacts to rocks, as well as a lady backing into me in a parking lot. One thing that is very noticeable, look at how much higher the wings sit up on the sides of the bumper. Also hi-lift points as loud stated. The entire bumper looks great, no matter how muddy or polished clean

Clearance makes this even a better reason to not buy the ARB spec 98-02 bumper. Saving my pennies... I need one for the 80 as well.

I had an 03-07 combo bar w/ IPF fogs. Liked it, but ultimately decided to go back to a 98-02 Sahara bar, for a number of reasons. So I bought Christo's off his LX for $600, included the IPF fogs again, but one was cracked. Tried to go the same route of getting the new, cheaper fogs, but ARB also told me no go. Then I saw Mean Green's set, and got them for a very fair price. Here's a pic of the newly powder-coated bumper, but no fogs installed yet.

I saw no significant difference between the generations as far as clearance goes. Both stick out far on the accordion mounts. Corners are higher on the 03-07, but the tips (in front of the tires) are higher on the 98-02. Honestly, OEM tupperware has much better approach angles and clearance. For ultimate functionality (protection, clearance, etc.), Slee would be the way to go, but since this is also my family wagon, I wanted that airbag certification, hence the ARB.
