I have a Bluetti EB55 power thing a friend gave me (for emergency backup at home) and I’ve charged it off the truck before as a test, no issues.
Yeah. This sounds like it’s specific to Toyotas and this specific battery as well. I’ve had several issues plugging things into the OEM plugs. I have a small, plug-in inverter that solves most of those issues, but I get the exact same clicking issue as the guy in the video on the EF

Plus when you see how small the wiring to the factory inverter is you’ll understand it can’t possibly send much current in the first place.

Valid point, I haven’t taking it all apart to look at the wiring yet.
I plan on doing the same setup I do with all my rigs, second bat, huge inverter, etc.. All basically hidden and tucked away, not taking up valuable storage space.
As for the “overland power” stuff. Personally, I think many of the current (see what I did there?) trends are just strong marketing and not necessarily the best or most efficient use of power and many people WAYYY over complicate something very simple and straight forward due to marketing hype.

For those mounting the compressor on the passengers side, what would you do if you needed to access the fuse box?
My drivers side has a secondary fuse box I’ve added so my compressor will need to go on the passengers side. I’d be fine with installing it where the secondary battery could go, but I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mount theirs in that spot so I assume I’d have to fab up some sort of custom bracket. Also I’m not sure if it would trade off fuse block access issues for power steering reservoir access issues…

Maybe move your current secondary fuse box to the US Passenger side, and put the compressor in the driver side normal spot?
Ugh. No. I should’ve put it there originally but now the wiring effort would be too much to make it worthwhile, and I don’t really want to crimp and solder 6 or 8 different wires to extend everything now… just one more place for failures :-(

I put my winch controller on the passenger side. Accessing the fuse box below kinda sucks. I haven’t had to do that but I did need to move the control box and bracket to get to the fire wall penetration to run wires. 15 or so to pull it out and same back in.
Posting to update on the thread topic. I went with the SLEE mount and am super happy with it. The only downside is that it blocks the gasket in the firewall to run wires. But I used it on an 8 day trip and it worked flawlessly.
It’s a nice idea but that space is sooooo tight, I don’t think you could pivot that compressor. The compressor barely fits just sitting on top of the fuse block and actually slips a bit under the cowl
Ok not awful I suppose, if it’s possible to remove those bolts on the left, disconnect the arb compressors at the harness clips, and lift it out. Still pains me to spend $200 on that part, as I have a galvanized joist hanger bracket from home despot which was $15 and should work if I can figure out how to bolt it to the body/engine bay.
The Slee bracket looks like it sits slightly upward. Seems odd, I can’t see how the compressor would fit as it seems like it would be too tall?l. But I guess if others are using it for this purpose it must clear the hood?

There is also a bracket on the right the is a bit difficult. I don’t think the slee accessory plate could be much lower. Don’t know is ARB compressor fits or not.
Have you considered in a bumper wing, above the frame? TLC has a nice space on the US passenger side with some existing holes in place (for the ahc bracket). Might fit up in there. Not sure how much space is left with aftermarket fuel tank.

I'd be nervous about the health of my compressor given the environment that location would subject it to.
As far as I understand it’s a sealed unit, just have to extend the breathers. No hot engine temps back there. High amp cabling to the back isn’t trivial though.

The twin has an electric cooling fan, and I’d personally want to remove the cover and make sure the crank and such isn’t exposed like with many oil less compressors
