Next workday is April 20th. No info as to what we are doing yet, but just getting this started.

Hi Everyone – I’m sorry I haven’t gotten back to those of you that called me and emailed me before opening day. I was scrambling to get things done before the gates opened and was shorthanded as several of our folks were on the Croatan doing prescribed burns and then I went on Spring Break vacation on March 30th and just got back to the office today.

In general, don’t come up with a schedule of doing work on this specific section of trail yet. We need to do an analysis of several options and nothing will be done on the ground at the Kodak Rock section until we’re finished with the analysis. We do appreciate all of your help through the years and are looking forward to our continued partnership. I will keep you updated as best as I can so that any coordination that is needed can be accomplished in an organized fashion.

Snappy called me today and he told me that you’re all working on the to do lists / punch lists for the different trails everyone has adopted. For the next several work days we’ll be working on these punch lists. I’ll try to coordinate with him to get you the materials you’ll need.

Thanks again everyone and take care. Bye - Terry

No. Not at this time. The southern office in Atlanta has to come up with a plan. That is what i am getting involved with on the other thread. I want to be part of the process.

typical red tape, it's going to clog up the process here.

If we can't work on RML loop im just going to work on our trail.

I should be able to make this workday. Darin, I hope those folks have the intelligence to listen to what you have to say and actually develop a reasonable plan to make all parties involved satisfied.

Darin any update on what we will be doing..... I presume walking our trail since we can't do anything on RML??

Last weekend we picked up bud light cans... I mean trash while we were out wheeling and our trail was among the cleanest of all areas. Not to mention the beautiful job done at the beginning of the trail. If nothing else, we could ride around and locate problematic areas throughout the park that atvs have already exploited this season that need to be blocked off, while picking up more bud light cans.... I mean trash. Judging by what I saw last weekend, with RML closed there is more traffic on the other trails and a few things need to be addressed before we lose access. Kodak was a magnet for certain types of wheeling which will now be spread throughout the park.

This is the news of what we will be doing at this time. It might change but i do not seeing it doing so.

Darin - Any updates on this?

Yes. Sorry it was a late night at the meeting up there last night. Looks like we will be needed either over on Daniel or on RML. I said last night most likely RML would be where we would likely go. This will be tearing down what we put up this year. We need to get the guard rail back out so they can put in a more permanent solution . I know. I said it already but it needs to be done and we are used to working / dragging that stuff now. I will post up the latest news here soon. At lunch. The work on Daniel will be moving stuff to block bypasses. Of course anyone can go where they want. I am not trying to speak for anyone here so if everyone would rather do Daniel let me know but I think they already have a good sized group for that trail.

I need to check with the social secretary, but I plan on being there. Will likely need a seat to ride into the trails on ....

This is a cut and paste from the newly appointed trail boss. He was the one that made us lunch in January. Chris is his name.

This is the email from Terry

Hi Everyone – This year has been a whirlwind already! I appreciate everyone’s help and I’ve talked to several of you recently trying to coordinate this upcoming work day and to come up with a better way to get the work done and organized. We’ll keep things going as best we can. If anyone that is chainsaw certified is coming up please bring your gear and let me know if you need anything like chaps, ear plugs, etc. & I’ll bring them but you need to let me know in time.

For this upcoming work day, April 20th , these are the overall projects to work on depending on how many people show up: Install straw bales in tail ditches near streams along all OHV trails, remove split rail fencing and guardrail on Rocky Mountain Loop Trail in preparation for a contractor that will be replacing these with our wooden guiderail fencing (the type we have around the trailheads), prune back shrubs & branches along trail, block off illegal bypasses on Daniel Trail & Slab Pile Trail & Falls Dam Trail with slash, already dead and downed trees, install orange diamonds and arrows on trails.

Plan on meeting me at Uwharrie Hunt Camp at 9 am. If anyone has trail trailers or trailers or pickup trucks we can use to haul the straw from Arrowhead Campground out to the trails for people to take onto the trails to put the straw bales on the trails - please bring them. Bring hammers, loppers, clippers, sledge hammers, shovels, socket sets and wrenches, chainsaws and protective equipment if you’re certified, lunch and water. Make sure to bring / wear work boots, work gloves, and appropriate work clothes.
