Anyone with experience with the new SPC UCA ball joint? (3 Viewers)

Looking at that photo from the perspective of being someone who trained and worked as a welder, it certainly wasn’t tack welded. That’s a full seam weld that goes all the way around. Looks just like mine as far as a weld is concerned. These vehicle parts are welded by machines that are tuned to weld them perfectly. So the heat, wire feed, speed and such will have all been perfect. Also the parts usually go through a cleaning process to get rid of contamination before welding. It certainly does look like the weld broke though. Like it stuck to the arm part and peel off of the bushing tube. Maybe a crack developed and caused premature failure. Either way, it’ll be enough for me to check my UCA’s closely.

Could be. When we looked at the back half of the mount (which broke free) it looked like it only had welds at the edges, not in the center. But we were on the trail and weren’t inspecting it closely, our goal was to get the truck off the trail safely since it was blocking the trail completely, then get the owners back to town so they could search for parts.
