Got two solid pinion spacers from jt's parts and accessories to install in my 78 fj40 diffs since I'm installing 3.70 gears (had to get some multi drill flanges as well.) When I took the solid spacer out of the package I noticed its roughly 1-2 mm longer than the crush sleeve I removed. I didn't think much of it at first. First go I installed the solid spacer with no shims tightened the pinion nut to set preload and it stops before tightening the pinion shaft, a bit puzzled, I put my Ingersoll titanium 1/2 gun on it and let it loose, still doesn't tighten up. So I take the pinion nut off and remove the outer bearing, remove the spacer and upon inspection you can see where it was imprinted! Damn spacer is too long! Anyone else ran into this? Or even used one of these?

For $55 bucks a piece I'm a bit aggravated to say the least.

I don't see a part offered for any FJ40 on their website. What part number does the invoice indicate?

The one for $55 on their website says it is for IFS front differentials.

We don't buy anything made by nitro anymore...

contact the vendor, maybe the sent the wrong one. hopefully he won't be a douche to you like he was with me. good luck and next time buy from kurt.

three phone calls later and im told that the differential that came out of my 87 fj60 is in fact from a 1990 and newer land cruiser. :hhmm:
so im out $110 plush shipping for two pieces of scrap metal that i know have to take to a machine shop and have turned down.

I think many years ago we used a mini truck solid spacer, just had a machine shop turn the spacer down a bit for setup..

Bit more work setting the third up with shims but worth the effort.

And apparently nitro is the only company that sells the spacers for cruisers.

Pretty sure that East Coast Gear Supply makes them too; I have bought them for Taco/4R/FJC rear diffs (but not for Cruiser diffs) so I'm not certain.

FWIW, these don't work in any of the FJ60 3rds. Your 3rd was NOT from an 80 series. I just pulled two 3rds from FJ62 front axles. Both of them had the same issue with these solid spacers. They are cut at 2.170", but that is about 1/8" too long.

JT's needs to get their R&D together as these will NOT work in FJ60 3rds.

I know thats why i posted and contacted them but they said i was wrong. BS i turned both of mine down and made them work. thanks for reviving my thread i had put it behind me now im hot again.

I was yesterday too. They told me they were sending me out the two to replace these. Then I see a charge on my CC for them + shipping. I lost it on them.

So, I just had a buddy turn them down today for me and will run these. Then I disputed the charge with my CC company.

Keep in mind that I am a dealer of theirs too.

They lost my business yesterday for good.

The real kicker is that they weren't even machined straight from them. Now they are. They were .050 out on one side. BOTH of them were.

Their 'you don't know anything we've setup hundreds of diffs and are right attitude' is why I think they suck the big one too. Sorry to hear Carl and crew were douches to you.

Send them back and get some from Kurt @ Cruiser Outfitters.
I got solid spacers from him and they set up perfectly.

I stepped in the same trap! :(
To my 83 and 87 HJ60 diffs I ordered the pre 90 spacer and turns out it is to big.

Why do they advertise there items so badly?
Bought mine from Yotamaster and with 25% import taxes + fees and international shipping that are some pretty expensive scrap metal.

Guess I will have to use a day or two to sand them down by hand, argh I hate nitro gear right now ....
