Anyone see an issue? Split rims and 255/85s?

for those of you that feel an aluminum rim can't get you out of the bush.
flat tire, winter, 9 km back in, no spare. it drove me back to the truck and up the ramps.
rim was screwed but a high quality aluminum rim does not shatter when impacted with a rock at speed ... it bends.
