Anyone running new Cooper AT3 XLT, LT, 4s?

For those who haven't heard, Cooper just came out with a few derivatives of the AT3 tire.

Has anyone picked up a set yet? If so what do you think?

I just picked up an '07 last week with only 74k, and immediately ordered the new Cooper XLTs in 275/70-18, arrive in a week...can't wait! Will post pics when mounted.

I'm so happy with them, I just replaced our Nitto G2s on our Tundra with these same Coopers in 20s. Outstanding! BEEFY and deep tread. Smooth enough on pavement, even better on dirt! And a 60k warranty!

You can negotiate with Discount Tire (in person).....I ended up getting the 20s for $206 each....WAY cheaper than any price listed anywhere! Can't hurt to try. Just say..."will you do $xxx per tire?"

Very curious how these measure up to KO2s. I'll be needing new tires by the end of the year and the ST Maxx was my prime consideration due to the ArmorTek, but these XLTs in a 285/75/18 look tempting. They are E-Rated, so should be plenty tough enough for off-roading.

I considered the ST Maxx also, but didn't need that aggressive tread for this truck, as I have the STT Pros on another truck and hubby's 80. Great tire, really great tire for trails, rocky/dirt roads! Cooper has an "anti-chunk" technology that reduces chunks of tread blocks from coming off, and both our STT Pro sets have proven that very true. I'm a huge Cooper fan recently!

I've run cooper's for years both rigs, like them a lot. They've got some great recent offerings it seems. Currently running ST Maxx 255/85/16. Wear exceptionally well and do very well aired down.

I just ordered a set of KO2s yesterday for my Jeep. Before pulling the trigger, the installer highly recommended the XLTs over the KO2s saying he has no idea why the KO2s were so popular. (He said it was probably from a bunch of "Toyota guys" on a forum somewhere which I thought was hilarious.) In general, he said they have much better wet traction and much easier to balance. Equal off-road capabilities and wear better so that they stay balanced. He said he would only offer me a one-time rebalance on KOs. The reason why I went with the KO2s anyway is because they ended up being much cheaper from Tire Rack. On Tire Rack, the XLTs are more expensive but through the installer, he could actually get the XLTs for less. Because of this, I was originally going to try them out but the price was still more than 400 more than the KO2s off tire rack. I also liked the KO2 tread pattern a little more and don't really drive the Jeep too much. I think for my LC which goes out in the rain and longer trips, I will definitely give these a go.

Road noise on the AT3s is really good. it's still an A/T tire, so the tread pattern is somewhat "smoother" for great road noise reduction. But the tread is still plenty aggressive for any trail/rocky/dirt road or trail. I live on a dirt road in a really small rural area....they're perfectly suited to this terrain, yet smooth and quiet on the highway at 65mph.
They have a particularly wide channel on the outer most tread, great for dispersing water. See pics.

Even the much more aggressive STT Pros are excellent on road noise. I think Cooper is remarkable.

I've been very happy with my KO2s. They are super easy to balance and stay balanced. They are decently quiet on the highway too which is a plus. Their treadwear is even at 11/32nds after 38k of mixed driving including over 5k of offroad (gravel/rock/sand). I rotate every 5k. I'll put another 10k on them by February so figure it's time to start considering replacement options. Not sure why your installer was down on the KO2. They seem to be the "real deal" for AT Tires.

I just picked up the new AT3 XLT in 315/75/16 this morning based on recommendations from my Discount Tire rep who runs them (I originally was set on the K02s). The tires run small at least in 315s... mounted diameter is 34" which will allow me to mount my spare in the stock location if needed. Also, this is one of the lightest A/T 315s I have seen at 63lbs. Anyone on the fence to move to 315s on their 80 series should seriously consider this tire. I am amazed at how quiet they run for how aggressive they look. Extremely pleased so far...

IIRC the K02s in same size run ~66lbs each. Cooper says 64lbs for the 315/75/16s.

When you say they run small, what are you comparing them to? I'm always interested to gather real life sample data. I run K02s now and enjoy them (balance true, very quiet), but am interested in the AT3s as they're newer by a few years.

Just got 235/85R16 AT3 LTs (E rated) for the 100 we just landed.

So far the AT3's are super--very quiet, but very capable during a couple hours at Uwharrie in the wet, aired down to 18psi. Only complaint with them is they have no rim protector bulge (I'm sure there's a name for that) like the STT Pros I have on the '95 LR Discovery, which led me to smoosh up the edges of my new steelies a bit on some rocks. The STT's are way quieter than the Wrangler MTRs they replaced, but not nearly and quiet as the AT3s.
