Anyone Running A "Modular" Head Unit Stereo? FJ62 (1 Viewer)

Hey All. Just picked up a "new to me" 1989 FJ62. I really want CarPlay. These new "modular" head units seem to be the rage. I've seen kits to make it fit the double DIN setup on the 62, but not sure if the screen part of the system will stick out far enough to clear the dash pad. Anyone have experience in a 62?

Yup works fine. I used an Kenwood Excelon Reference DMX1057XR - https://www.crutchfield.com/p_113DMX1057/Kenwood-Excelon-Reference-DMX1057XR.html

I had to have a volume knob, I hate touch screen volume.

Yes. Something similar to link above just a lot cheaper around $300. Runs carplay.

Also I upgraded all the speakers. I had OEM original speakers in mine that crumbled to the touch.

I've got a Sony sony xav ax1000 receiver in the FJ62 and it has apple carplay and fits in the bezel and works great.
