land of enchantment, at least for now
I finally crossed to the dark side. :D
I'm picking up an 80 in Denver next friday morning and can/will stop at slee if anyone needs anything. I may stop just for the helluvit since I've never been.

Oh yeah, my white troopy is now for sale.

Yeah, let me come up with my list!!!

i need LOTS of things from slee but i bet you aren't offering to finance it too are you :p

you might be able to work a double lift deal and get something off i have no idea... and heck even just picking it up in person would save a bit on freight for heavy lift stuff! my journey to pick up my 80 only went by in and out burger, but i guess you get what you can take :D

Sorry, no financing, just free delivery :)

I don't have plans for the rig yet, so I'm just window shopping. I suppose I better even figure out the lift options before I spend any $$ on it. I'll definitely need to make or buy sliders, but don't know what else I'll do. If I bought slee front/rear/side protection it would cost almost what I'm paying for the rig. I don't see that happening.:D

Very cool David.

Are you flying into DEN? I'm on reserve and should be hanging around until Friday afternoon unless they *gasp* make me work. I might even be driving back home Friday afternoon too, depending on what may or may not be waiting at home for it...

I've got the faux-lux up there right now, so we can probably make something work if you need a ride to pick it up or anything.

On a related note: since I'm back to being based in Denver, I'm driving to and from Denver at least once a month again. I can always toss something in the back of the truck if anyone needs. At least, as long as it is safe to leave it potentially sitting in the back of my truck uncovered in the DIA employee parking lot. Seriously guys, don't hesitate to ask if you need something moved between here and Denver (or points in between). At roughly 30 MPG, I don't mind making detours.

So, what I'm hearing is: you're willing to cover metro Denver for parts that can be cable-tied down, or ready for pickup on yr schedule? Plus some mpg bragging? (as my 60 just got slightly over 12mpg on locked irregular winter trips w/warmups)

:zerrberts" to you sir, and I'll be in touch: sliders r next on my list of purchases. :hhmm:

You got it. I never worry about stuff in the back of the truck in the airside parking lot (the only people who have access to it have SIDA badges and background checks). Heck, I have left my truck parked there for about a week with a FF rear axle back there, a front axle, a PTO winch, and my snowboard without worry. But as long as you're cool with the chance of somebody saying "I think I need to steal some sliders--I wonder if there are any inside the employee parking lot at the Denver airport?" then you're good.

Like I say: I'm making the trip one way or another, so don't hesitate to ask if you need something carried either way...

Wow - that's some big news! I'll warn you right now - you will love it! They are awesome wheelers, but still are very comfortable...for the whole family!

How about some more details - lockers, mileage, color, etc. What sort of shape is it in? What year?

Congratulations - Can't wait to see it on the trail!

it's a white '95 with 161k and lockers. Body is straight, front bumper isn't. Front seatbottoms are rough, but interior otherwise clean (tan leather). Needs some maintenance--front axle service, some oil leaks, etc, but I think it will be a decent rig. And like me, it's cheap.

Hopefully this will get me on the trail more often since the girls have taken to whining about the bumpy ride in the 40s. I still have my v8 troopy with the pop-top camper bits, but it's not back together yet. No plans to sell that one. Will sell the other troopy. Not sure the future of the 40. Hopefully having the 80 to take on the trails, I'll get the 45 crawler into the garage and build it.

Slee's shop is a cool place, with great people too. I grew up a couple of miles from there. Was just there a couple of weeks ago.

Sounds great - can't wait to see you and the family out on the trail. I think you'll be impressed with the 80's capabilities.

So how'd the drive go?!

It was good to see ya David and have someone with more sense than me look at my pile of junk.

Good luck with your new Tabula rasa project.

Drive was good. Was great to see you, too, Juane. Would like to have stayed longer, but knowing I needed to get the sube and troubleshoot the troopy oil pressure, I wanted to get home.

after a stupid trip to get the sube (took the train to abq, only to realize I didn't bring the car keys), ashleigh and the girls drove me the keys in the 80, and while driving Ashleigh realized she could have picked up the car tuesday after school :(

Well, at least the oil pressure issue was just electrical. And the 80 got 18.7 mpg from denver to alamosa!

Nice to see another person coming over from the "dark side". Definitely a sure sign of wisdom, clarity, intelligence and a higher IQ.
