I’m very proud of my son, he’s well-trained. Anytime he spots a sweet FJ he sends me a pic. He found this one downtown at the governors office, any ideas who owns those beautiful blue 40?

I met him once a year ago. He works over near the Fennemore Craig office (24th st/Camelback). Cool guy, but that goes without saying.

Something I’ve noticed in AZ: all classic plates say 77 :hmm:

That was the first year of the classic plates. Remember I couldn't wait until I could get classic plates on my 68. The orange and green plates were stamped 73 as was all previous plates. When they switched to maroon and white the year was no longer stamped with a year or was it replaced like previous plates. New style came out came but was only issued when a plate was needed. In the past from the orange and green back new plates were issued every couple of years that replaced the previous plate. You can now use those only plates if the combination of letter and number isn't currently being used. Since the new plates have seven digits and the old are six not likely the old plate is currently in use. Using a orange and green plate on my 70 FJ40 and since it was my plate used on my 68 there is no extra fee to run it other than the $10 fee when I switched it.

Thought he had a 77? Few things say post 78 but the fuel fill door and A pillar flange going down thru thru the running board are both 79 and later items that are hard to change on early model. Especially the A pillar that changed completely how it was put together.

You are a Land Cruiser encyclopedia, and it's great.
