Took the 200 yesterday to a trail and going on a dirt road my upper ball joint from the SPC UCA decided she what to ruin the day
The ball came out the sucker clean leaving me stranded and paying $900 for a móvil mechanic to press that ball join back in. I was able to make back to the hotel waiting for tomorrow for the part to arrive. Now the truck has abs, traction control and pre collision and stability control light blinking. And one around here that can help me with a light stream scan? To erase this light before I depart to Virginia? The upper control arm is only 60 day old

Agreed, this is concerning.

I just picked up a nice used set of SPC UCA's from a member that needs new ball joints..

Which ball joints are supposed to be the improved model?

Can anyone confirm part numbers on these joints?

Dang, no trail stuff, just dirt road?

Brutal.

New fear unlocked. While rare this is still troubling given all the dirt we drive annually on our SPC’s.m

Do keep us updated.
Well I contacted Mudify.com since the UCA are less than 90 days old. They looking at options and will let me know ow Monday.

Update* I got the new ball join installed at the hotel parking lot. I was able to mounted at the same location so my alignment seems ok at 70 miles. I still planing to do alignment Monday on my way to Santa Fe at the Toyota dealer. I drove the truck and did 4 hours at the white rim trail everything is fine beside my abs and skit control light. I was able to read the code at orally I got two abs code for ground fault and two cero calibration not initiated. Hopefully they clear otherwise the dealer can fix it.

So apparently you will be buying an aftermarket ball joint from the auto parts store. What will you be buying at the Toyota dealer-sensor wire?
I got the spc ball join. Is the only one that fit their UCA. Orally and autozone can order for you. The cable situation is will have to wait because I need a cero calibration done but I don’t know which is the cg and the tx pin in the lc 200 obd2 plug.

I’m trying to save you a few hundred bucks—

You don’t need a zero point cal at this time. Buy the ABS/wheel speed sensor cable and install it yourself. It’s simple. The zero point code will likely disappear along with the rest of them after it’s replaced.

Yes I just spoke with my wife and we decided to drive the truck back to Virginia like this. I call few dealer in New Mexico they all got 4 day to get it. Truck is fine and driving straight when I get home my Austel computer can take care the code and I have a wholesaler account with my Toyota dealer is almost 40% cheaper.

Yes I did remove the old to check it is it took me like 10 minutes

you can also just simply repair the cable and reset the error codes. The 200 rly doesn’t give a F about wich cables you use. Since I ripped my rear speed/abs cables a few times I just clamped, soldered or just taped it and it worked like a charm after the reset. Drove like this for like two years till rain and humidity creeped into the cables and caused ground errors.

The reset is a simple job were starting the laptop is the longest part.

I did check the wire there is a very small rip of the insulation I believe when the accident happened the wire touched the metal and the computer detected a ground. I checked the code and it only have to occurrences. I took the harness out I apply liquid tape and seal the cut. I just wondered how long would take for the ecm reset himself? I’m going to keep driving like this to home. When I get home I have a austel compute capable of doing everything on my truck including programming key and live test. I have a wholesale account with Toyota in my town. I keep calling this local dealer and they charge over msrp here I can get that cable for $67 the Toyota in my town.i Toyota Santa Fe NM want $187 for it .

When you replace the sensor wire it will reset.

Let me save you some trouble: Replace the sensor wire. The sensor wire is shielded and if it is damaged in any way it can’t be repaired to work reliably.

Once you replace it with a new one the code will clear after you drive it.
