Hi All,

I have been "away" from focusing on FJ55's and Land Cruisers in general. Maybe its the pleasant sunshine in Seattle but I feel a lot more Cruiser focused lately. Its all good!

I guess I am one of "those old names" from Morgan's original "Iron Pig List"...

This was before birfield.com was around. I am no longer on the TLCML but still get posts from the 55 List, although the volume is way, way, way down...

Just wondering if there are any other "old names" lurking about on this forum? Its hard to tell with the avatars and nick names that guys go under here and elsewhere these days.

So, in short, anyone here from ze ol' Pig List???

Oink!

Max,

I'm here from the original piglist - just never seem to have time to post lately!

I joined the 55 list on Birfield when I first got my piggie, but that's only been a few years.

I just joined up with the 55 List on Birfield. But there was a list before that???

Yup, Morgan ran the "Pig List" for a while. It got pretty good traffic. I think sudden server issues caused a shut down. By then he was working with Gary Bjork behind the scenes on the bigger LCML. After awhile the birfield.com site and improved server were born and the 55 list resumed again.

The 55 list had enough traffic that guys would elect to receive their emails in digest mode. Its almost non existent now. I think the popularity of this and other forums has eclipsed email lists that don't allow pictures etc. The fact that one has to actively log on to this and other sites and click around is not for everyone though. There used to be 100-200 guys on the 55 list that received around 20 emails a day. Not sure how much 55 specific traffic we get over here. I do know that a bunch of the old once familiar FJ55 names have sort of faded away into legend...

I am still on the list and still appreciate it as I am sure others do as well...

Wayneraintree on all forums including POR. Nice to see people migrating here so we can post pics and such!

Nice to see people still posting to the piglist (though slower than before) cause' it's another resource with an infinite amount of information in the archives...

I am an original Iron Pig lister that Morgan started. Been around since 98, IIRC. I still get postings real time from the LCML and the PIg list, but I like the Ih8mud forum better. Posting pics and the HTML is what attracts me. I post to the pig list once in a great while, but not even close to what it was back in the early days.

Max,

Just stumbled by and saw this thread. i was on the old list for a while, until i sold all my cruisers.

<moment of silence>

We met in Seattle a couple times when I was visiting (former) relatives. Good to see some old names/cruisers. I know what you mean about the old newbie posts. I'm embarrased to search the archives for that very reason. IRON PIGS FOREVER!

Wow, John, long time no hear!

Good to see that your very first post on Mud is discussing 55's.

Way back when John had the first photo position on Morgan's first Iron Pig List registry.

I think John may have been one of the very first cruiser guys that I met after restoring my 76 FJ55. I knew nobody back then. I do know that John was the first guy to snap a photo of my 55 right after I just got done painting it at home. He met me while visiting from Arizona. Here is that photo. My 55 looks a little different these days...

Cheers,

Max

PS: John, cruiserless for two years?? Are you about to make some changes to that status???

I had been a lurker on the original Pig List and the LCML list for years but only posted occasionaly. Much more active on this forum due to pics and ease of posting, etc. Still check the LCML archives for info... I recognize some of the names from way back when.

I was on the LCML back in '98 (maybe 97?) and damn near the start of the pig list.... Always cracks me up when I read some of my old posts.

Cheers,

Likewise. Anyone have a link to the archives?
