Anyone have their 100 wrapped?

Eventually going to do it to the 01LX I recently picked up. Local quote was $5500 for the whole thing. I'm buying the 3M film for about $600 and doing it myself. Lots of videos on youtube of the process.

Last year at SEMA in Vegas I saw a vendor that had a product that covered your vehicle with a durable rubber like compound. Almost like a bed liner product but rubber based. I'm going to find them again this year and find out more info.

You thinking of dragoncruiser's rig (the guy from Nicaragua)?

He told me it's taking him about 3 hours per panel. So, about 40-hours or so of work (13 panels) for a novice (no offense xirforever) isn't bad considering the labor and expense that would go into a full paint job.

My local shop said they would put two guys on it for 5 days, so they'd want 80 hrs labor. Seemed WAY high, but they were also looking at doing all the door jams and the rear hatch/gate area as well.

I've really wanted to do mine, RED. But the door handles have me perplexed.

Look up Kolor Werks on FB. They are a wrapping machine in Portland. Their pics are amazing.

Matching paint?

Matching paint?

True, but I've seen them wrapped. It's just about my skill level.

If I was going to paint them, then I'd do all the jambs. Then if I did the jambs, well I might as well paint the whole thing. I hate re paints with a passion.

Pull handle apart, wrap both pieces off vehicle. Reinstall.

I don't think the vinyl will play nice with the pull part of the handle. You're adding material to both the base and the handle. I think it will wear and quickly become a friction point for both parts. Though you might be able to stretch it thin enough.

My other thought was to replace all the handles with new ones in black as I'm planning on the hood and roof being black.

The color wrap vinyl is a lot thinner than the paint protection type film. It'll still probably wear but, it's not visible unless you're pulling the door open, NBD IMO.
