I have supposedly factory heated seats fitted to my LX which may have been a Canadian specific feature incl the diff locks, however I'm thinking of moving the switches and changing them. The two switches are fitted on either side of the rear heater switch in the centre dash. Both switches are essentially sealed and bulbs have gone. I picked up some heated seat switches from an ES 300 and am now thinking of mounting them to the sides of the centre console (assuming there is room). These have removable bulbs and incl the pigtails. This would solve a few problems:

1. Create some space for additional switches in the future.
2. Solve the issue of replacing bulbs in the future.
3. Clean up the "factory" wiring.
4. A bit more ergonomic to have the switches mounted beside the DS and PS seats.

Before, I attempt anything though, I thought I should check with other LX owners. I know some of the LCs are fitted with the wiring and have switch mounts in the centre console, but I would have to make holes to mount the ES switches. They are however a flush mount design.

Just checked and there is no way of mounting the switches in the centre console due to the sub woofer enclosure underneath. Looks like it's back to the factory switches for now. :(

my canadian LX does NOT have seat heaters

I plan on adding some, but I've removed my sub so I have lots of places to mount switches on the center console.

You could fit a Toyota center console and pop out two of the change holder spots.

You would have to live without the sweet sub woofer and CD changer, though...

I ended up just keeping them in the "orig" position. It took me most of yesterday to clean up the wiring to add some Deutsch connectors.

I'm sure I had read some where that Canadian LXs came stk with lockers and heated seats as part of the "Canadian" package. The switches are a bit archaic looking and it would have been nice to use something else, but due to time constraints I needed to get this back together this week. As much as some people like to bash the little sub woofer I think it is great, however I upgraded the speaker with the one mentioned here on mud.

I kind of like that position. Harder to spill a drink on them there. I wound up using the coin holders just because that's where the stock wiring is located on the Toyota console.

^^ Agreed, your switches don't look like the oem ones in my hdj81.

Probably 'port' installed if it was an option in Canada.

I thought the factory seat heaters had two settings :hmm:

Hey - those are for your winch
:flipoff2:

Yup. The only "official" options listed in some sales literature from the time were the moonroof, front & rear diff locks, and CD changer, yet there ones with and without roof rack, rear deflector, front deflector and cell phone.

HDJ81 switches..

Found a couple of Lexus factory seat heater switches at the pick-n-pull today while looking for something else. They match the oak interior. I would really like to mount them somewhere to free up some space on the dash, but there is no friggin space anywhere else to mount them.

This is a set of JDM switches in the factory location on an FZJ80 (purchased from MOT eons ago). Plugged into the factory wiring, and did the "adaptation" to a set of aftermarket heating pads when installing new leather. OEM setup, at least from what you can see. The pics for the LX do not appear in the right place, nor have the dual-setting...my vote is with the others that the OP setup is either dealer or port-installed.

So my truck may be prewired for these and I could add them? Do tell more. Anyone know the part#s for the switches? Thanks!

I was just going to post that you need to check out @NLXTACY. He has a fire extinguisher mount that will have a switch port. Get one for each seat and you have your heated seat controls where they should be and out of the way.

Well...very out of the way. You won't be able to see them but you can feel them :flipoff2:

So I'm not a huge fan of the location of the switch but it is what it is. I picture the area being more for a stealth button location.

It'll be a throw back to "Seven Minutes in Heaven" in the middle school days every time you turn on your seat heaters!
