I've got this idea in my head to shorten and dovetail what us aussies call a styleside, i think you guys call pickup or well back tub to replace my current steel tray on my FJ45. These bodies are pretty rare here in oz but if I can find one and do this it should be one of a kind.
Has anyone seen this done? I like the look of wagoneer's shortened body.

There are a couple of other 'modified' lwb beds that I can think of right off the bat.

Medusa really cut one down, so much so that there was only room for three letters on the tailgate. You can find pics of his rig in the hardcore forum.

Another regular in this forum, miker, is currently in the process of rebuilding his bed from scratch and taking some of the 'extra' metal out of the bed as he modifies the wheelbase.

Then there was another one, a big green one that belonged to a guy named Whitey. His was a custom built flatbed where both the factory sides and tailgate were designed to be removable for trail running. That was a way cool idea IMO.

Best
