Hey all!

I'm new to the ABQ area so I don't have many contacts with capable vehicles.

I just ordered some Traction Jack recovery mats and I'm hoping they arrive by this weekend. Anyway, I'm thinking about taking them (and my 100) out to the end of Southern (open to suggestions), getting stuck, and testing them out. My concern is that if I get stuck by myself and can't recover, I may need some help!

Anyone want to come check these things out in action? and possibly give me a pull!? I plan on writing a review for them after testing them out since they are such a new company.

Maybe we can make a decent trip out of it. I'm not super familiar with the area/trails so having someone knowledgeable that could show me some of the good trails would be awesome!

Obviously this would all hang on delivery of the mats before the weekend though.

Thanks!

Rami

oh HELL yeah, any excuse to bury YOUR rig, we're ON IT!!! Sounds like a day wheeling trip!

I think Im in... I have some new Maxtraxx I would like to try also......LOL

I'm going to do my best to only get mildly stuck! I don't want to kill my DD :hillbilly:

Sorry Rami,

You're going to get VERY stuck. I want to see what these things can do and don't worry, we need an excuse to use our winches, shackles, chains, straps, ropes, gloves, etc....

I have some Maxsa mats due to be delivered by Amazon this week, so I'm interested too:

There is another set of super high quality mat trax thing that @slimbuddha should bring for the showdown!

These are sold by the way as a $25 MaxTrax repair kit (installation instructions here: Maxtrax repair - How to repair melted teeth), but it looks to me like they may be a way to upgrade either the Maxtrax or other versions, since as originally sold they all seem highly vulnerable to wheel spin:

Just my .02- you guys might want to go up in the snow... a lot easier to get stuck and a little less potential for calamity than trying to intentionally get stuck in sand in the puerco (I speak from experience).

Doh.webp

They stack together fine. While they are clean I can just throw them on top of the drawers I have in the back (or maybe even inside them, I haven't checked).

Once they are muddy, though, they will have to be strapped to the roof rack (my rear bumper is still OEM, until Benc produces his new Dissent version). Apparently it's next to impossible to get the mud off these things out on the trail.

I agree with Dumpolina, it is virtually impossible to get stuck out in the puerco. If you do manage to get stuck it's because you got wedged between a rock and a hard spot or a tree.

hmm. I'm not too familiar with desert terrain. I know about a million places to get stuck in the WV woods.

Do you have any suggestions? Seems the snow will be hard to find with all this warm weather we've been having.

I guess you can get stuck going up the sand dunes and try to keep going up. One thing about that if it doesn't work out you can easily back down.
Should be some mud in the Jemez with all the melting snow. The important thing is that you get out and try to get stuck.
